Posted .Hi Barb,
I am sorry that you received cartridge that did not seem to last long enough. There is an XL version of the HP 62 cartridge that many people consider to be a better value.
If you are someone who prints a lot, you might consider trying Instant Ink. The subscription plans let you pay for the pages you print, not the cartridges. Check out the details at: HPinstantink.com
Unless a cartridge was damaged or defective, the ink usage will determine how long it lasts. There are some things that can lower your ink usage:
- You can use the printer's draft mode and black-only settings, whenever possible, to save ink.
- Some paper is highly absorbent and will use more ink, especially if the environment is dry. Use a good quality paper designed for printers.
- Shutting the printer down between uses can also help; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That lets it ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
When it seems that the low page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, it is always an option to contact the seller about it.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does not last long, if you leave your home printer off for a short time you have to replace the cartridge again.

Posted .Hi Calvin,
I am very sorry to hear that the cartridge stops working so early. While it is difficult to know why a cartridge stops working, there is a good possibility that it needs cleaning. That is a pretty easy process. Your printer should have an automatic routine to do that. Check the user guide, if you don't know how to start the cleaning.
If that helps, the printer might have been turned off using a power strip or switch. The printer should always be turned off using the power button on the printer itself. That will let the printer 'park' so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying. The drying can cause clogs in the tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper.
If that does not help, it is probable that the cartridge is defective, and you can:
- ask the seller for a refund or replacement.
- contact us if it is a defective genuine cartridge that is not replaced by the seller(and is still within the warranty ends date on the cartridge): hp.com/contactHP

defective Black ink cartridge
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered one Color and one Black ink cartridge (#62) for my HP printer. The color one is fine, but the black ink cartridge is not usable. The printer generates a "defective cartridge" error. Hoping I can return it for credit.

Waste of Money!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A waste of $20.00. I inserted the ink cartridge but the printer wouldn't say it was empty. I could not get it to work noatter what I tried. I bought another cartridge on Amazon and it worked first try.

Not original hp
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered this thinking it was an original hp not a refill . It lasted maybe 4 prints then no more ink I called and nothing was ever done to rectify the situation. When I installed the cartridge it said on my computer not original hp. They should not be allowed to sell these under hp name

Posted .Hi,
I'm sorry that the cartridge did not last too long. The XL is always a good choice though.
You can save ink by using the draft and black only settings on your printer.
If you feel there was something wrong with a cartridge, you can always contact the seller to see about a replacement.
