Failure of 62 XL cartridge - HP Envy 5660
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After about 1/3 of the ink for this 62 XL cartridge had been used, the printer told me it had failed. I cleaned the cartridge, with no effect. The regular 62 cartridge that came with the printer was inoperative from the start, which is why I bought another cartridge. Is this a problem with the cartridges, or the printer?

Gives me an error code of no ink cartridge installed. Best buy said I have to call HP. Never had an issue with any other cartridge. I think Best Buy should replace and deal with HP or at least verify my issue-

We bought a new one and it also didn't work. We now have a hard connection (not happy) but we did get money back for both transmitter units. Nobody seems to know why the transmitters didn't work

Even though I buy the XL ... Even though I use "draft" this ink only lasts about 2-3 weeks. This is ridiculous. I have used hp inks for almost 2 decades without such issue.

I understand you received a cartridge that didn't work. I'm sorry for the hassle of returning a cartridge. There are multiple reasons that cartridges will not work. The first is that the printer has trouble registering the information from the cartridge. Ensure the cartridge is firmly secured in the cartridge holder. You may check for any error messages. Restarting the printer sometimes helps the printer recognize the cartridge.

I am concerned that you had this problem. That cartridge should work in your printer, but if you can't get it to work, perhaps it is defective and you should exchange it.
A firmware upgrade might help. You can download the firmware (and perhaps the full-featured software - that often helps performance) from this site:

I see you aren't finding the optimal value from our cartridges. We want our customers to be happy. Several items impact customer satisfaction. The first trick is to turn off the printer if you aren't using it. This protects the cartridge. Wiping off old ink periodically from the printhead keeps the cartridge in good condition. Be sure to keep the temperature and humidity of the room in check as well.
