    DEFECTIVE CARTRIDGE

DEFECTIVE. Upon placing this cartridge, my HP printer responded with an error message, that one or more of the ports on the cartridge is missing. Unacceptable for a brand new factory ink cartridge.

I expected this to give more pages but it lasted maybe 20% more than a regular cartridge. I only print regular text, no images, so it was disappointing

      Hi Dianne,

I'm sorry to hear that you received a cartridge that did not last as long as you expected. Provided that the cartridge is not damaged or defective, the ink usage will determine how long it will last. More ink is also used if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.

Here are a few facts about ink usage that might help you save on ink:
      - Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.
      - Instant Ink might be worth a try. Many customers like our available plans. They're based on how many pages you print monthly, which can save you money. You can check out the details at: HPinstantink.com

If you feel that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you have the option to:
      - request a replacement or refund from the seller
      - contact us if it is a defective genuine cartridge that is not replaced by the seller (and it is still within the warranty ends date on the cartridge): hp.com/contactHP

This cartridge runs out of ink faster than other cartridges I have used. It may be the new printer, I will be glad when others are making this so it does not cost so much.

I try to avoid using printers because for some reason almost everything in the entire product line is poor quality - printers used to work 20% of the time (recently improved), the ink is expensive and after printing about 10 pages of text, seems to run out (still happens).

      Hi,

I am sorry that this happened to you. Usually how long a cartridge lasts depends on its usage.

You can avoid some ink usage by turning the printer off when it is not in use. However, the printer should always be turned off using the printer's power button. That will let the printer 'park' so the cartridge is protected from excess drying. That can cause clogs to form in the tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper.

If you think the cartridge wasn't properly filled and don't want to try taking back to a local Best Buy, you can try contacting them about a return by mail.

According to the Best Buy website: "If you receive a product that is damaged in shipping, defective or that is not the product you ordered, please return it during your return and exchange time period to Best Buy and we'll arrange for a replacement. If you would rather return the item by mail during your return and exchange time period, please call us for special instructions at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289)."

Didn’t work was empty and because I ripped up the package, I was unable to return. This is the second time ordering HP printer cartridges through Best Buy and the ink was already empty after opening as if it was refurbished or returned. Will Not be purchasing ink through here again.

      Hello,

I'm very sorry that you think the price is too expensive. There are alternatives, but they will not have the quality. Also, if 3rd party ink damages your printer, it might void your warranty.

You can try using draft mode and setting the printer to use just black ink when possible. That can save. Also, turning the printer off between uses (always using the power button on the printer to turn it off) can help.

I purchased this as it was the ink required by my printer. It advertised somewhere around 600 pages of printing capability at a cost of about $40. I got home and installed it and began to print again. I printed about 40 pages and it was out of ink ($1 per page is pretty steep). Perhaps this one was defective, but I didn't bother to take it back as I figured they wouldn't believe me anyway. Beyond disappointed.

      Hi,

I'm sorry that the cartridge did not last as long as you thought. The page yield is approximate and based on industry-standard ISO testing.

Actual number of pages depends on many factors, high-density photos and the like use ink more quickly and lots of black is used on just about every print job.

If you feel there was something wrong with a cartridge, you can always contact the seller to see about a replacement.

      Hi there,

I am sorry to find that the cartridge didn’t last long for you. I can understand if you are not happy about that and about it clogging up.

It is a good practice to verify if the cartridges you receive are authentic. That is fairly easy to do if you check the things indicated at: hp.com/go/anticounterfeit

Hi Sheila, sorry for the disappointing experience you've encountered with HP 62XL High Yield Black Original Ink Cartridge. Thanks for sharing your experience, although it has left you less than satisfied, we appreciate your feedback. We value our customers and understand how important it is to offer exceptional service and quality products. Based on your description, I understand that you are unhappy with the number of page yield from the ink cartridge. The ink is used in several ways throughout the inkjet printing process. In general, ink in an ink cartridge is used for printing documents, photographs, and other such materials. Some ink, however, must be used to maintain the health of the print head; some ink is residual, and some ink evaporates. These uses of ink are common, in varying degrees, to printers from all inkjet printer manufacturers. To know more about the ink usage and the page yield click on this link: http://hp.care/2pjTyWZ and I would suggest you do not turn off the printer frequently because every time you power cycle the printer it uses ink for initialization. If you need any further assistance with the ink cartridge you can contact the HP phone support: http://hp.care/2oEj8Fb
