Horrible. I plugged it in about 30 minutes ago and it will not boot up. The stop code is "Inaccessible Boot Drive". I called Joy systems support (2:30 PT) and they are closed for the weekend as their support is 9:00 am - 5:00 pm ET. I had to set back up my old WIn 7 pc, then I conveniently received this review your purchase from best but. It is extremely disappointing!!!!!!

      Hi Nanny,

I am sorry you're replacing the cartridges so often. If you are printing a lot of high-density prints (that use more ink) you could find that the XL version is a better value. Instant Ink is also great for who print a lot of images, graphs and such. With Instant Ink you only pay per page. Details are found at: instantink.com

Here are a few facts about ink usage that might help you out:
      - A high-density print (like a photo) will use the ink more quickly than a text-only document, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
      - Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help save on ink.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, be sure to use the power button on the printer itself when turning it off. That will let the printer 'park' so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.

When you feel that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you always have the option to request a replacement or refund from the seller.

      Hello Lulu,

I am sorry that the cartridge was defective. I can understand if you were disappointed.

I'm also very sorry about the difficulty with the return. The normal procedure is to return it to the seller. If you bought it from a 2nd party vendor, we don't know how well it was handled once they got it.

It seems like you should have been able to return it to Best Buy. According to the Best Buy website: "If you receive a product that is damaged in shipping, defective or that is not the product you ordered, please return it during your return and exchange time period to Best Buy and we'll arrange for a replacement. If you would rather return the item by mail during your return and exchange time period, please call us for special instructions at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289)."

      Hello Greg,

While I have no control over the ink prices, I can help you save money. I empathize with your feelings about having to spend money on ink. Here are a few suggestions:

      - Use the black ink only setting.
      - Turn off the printer when plausible.
      - Clean the printheads if the cartridges seem dry.
      - Monitor the temperature and humidity of the room.
      - Lessen the print quality to save on ink.
      - Be conscious of the number of words, tables, designs, photos, and pages you print. All these items affect ink usage.

      Hello,

I can understand if you are disappointed when the black cartridge seems to run out too quickly. How each individual cartridge will perform for you is determined by your usage. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is extra absorbent and the air is warm and dry.

Here are some things that might help lower your ink costs:
      - Black is used a lot in almost every printout. Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out black and colored ink
      - Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses will save electricity and a few drops of ink here and there that are used to keep the inkjets cleared and ready for your next print job.
      - Instant Ink lets you pay by the page. Check out the details at: instantink.com

If it appears that poor performance is due to a defect or you got a cartridge that was already low on ink, please contact the seller.

Hello, thank you for your feedback, sorry to hear you are unhappy with the page yield of your HP 63 2-Pack Ink Cartridges. Historically printer manufacturers used their own methods for estimating page yield. However, this made it difficult to compare different products. Nowadays, the published page yield is based on the Industry Standard for measuring yields (refer to International Standards Organization ISO 24711). The actual yield varies considerably based on the content of the printed pages, the frequency of printing, the ink used in set-up etc.You may find that you will get more pages when printing in Fastdraftmode. XL size cartridges offer up to 50% lower cost per page compared with standard size cartridges. Our recommendation would be that you leave your printer powered on in normal usage conditions, only power it down if you will not use it for an extended period of time (ie: longer than one month).
