Well, I bought this ink in April 2022. The box says the ink is good until August of 2023. When I installed the ink, now in November, it is no good at all. Proof? Another cartridge worked fine. And, I'm told, that I can't exchange it at Best Buy because it's been too long. A $40 purchase -- wasted..

      Hello Den,

Finding out a cartridge is defective six months later is an annoyance. Luckily, this type of disappointment is avoidable if you check the cartridge as soon as you get it. If you prefer, check out the Best Buy return policy. Listed here, www.bestbuy.com/site/help-topics/return-exchange-policy/, it explains everything you would need to know.

Nothing wrong with it but $35 for a cartridge is highway robbery. Trying a knock off type now to see if it will work. 1/2 the price.

Well, it’s either you buy new ink or a whole new printer. Sometimes I think buying a new printer on sale is cheaper. But it does it’s job.

Hp ink cartridges are the most expensive, and do not last long enough. Stuck having to buy until I can buy a different brand printer like Brother.

      Hello,

I am sorry that you are not getting longer lasting usage of your cartridges. I hope to help make them last longer for you.

Provided the cartridge is not damaged or defective, the ink usage will determine how long it will last. High-density prints (like photos) will require more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.

That said, I have a few tips that might help:
      - You can use the printer's draft mode and black-only settings, whenever possible, to save ink.
      - Instant Ink might be worth a try. Many customers like our available plans. They're based on how many pages you print monthly, You can check out the details at: HPinstantink.com
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can help; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That lets the printer ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - If you suspect that the low page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you are always free to contact the seller.

If none of those tips work, and if a defective genuine HP cartridge is not replaced by the seller (and is still within the warranty end dates on the cartridge) you can reach out to us for support: hp.com/contactHP

I had to return this cartridge to Best Buy. Your curbside service is great, and your associates very hard working--please let them know!! Because an XL black cartridge was not in stock the associate had to offer me one black & one tri-color cartridge which I purchased. However, I will still run out of ink sooner than I wanted because of the regular black cartridge instead of my desired XL.

Purchased new HP Printer and cartridges. When I opened the black xl and installed it, the printer would not recognize it. Called HP, they said probably bad cartridge, take it back and exchange it. Best Buy refused to exchange because it was open. How would I know it's bad unless I opened it!!

This did not work - it clogged. I wasted the money and was unable to return the product because I had thrown away the packaging. No recourse to return for refund. It was junk. I’m not pleased with this product. Do not buy it.

      Hi there Susanita,

As a general rule, never throw away the packaging until you know the product works. As for the clogged cartridge, try cleaning it with a damp cloth. Gently tap over a towel to remove the clog. I hope this solves your issue.

It was difficult finding this item, but I was able to find it at a store 20 mikes away. When I tried to load it in my printer I ended up getting an error message. I reloaded 5 different times and even powered down the printer. But the cartridge never worked. I had to return to store.

Extremely disappointed in this item. It’s barely a month old and it’s not performing as promised. I’ve only printed approximately 25 copies, and the print is so light I can hardly read it. Was it past its shelf life? Did the ink dry out? Can I return/exchange it? Please advise.

      Hi there,

I am sorry that the cartridge isn't printing clearly for you. That sounds disappointing.

Normally, this type of cartridge will print clearly until the cartridge is depleted. The advertised estimates of pages are based on a standards set by the industry.

How each individual cartridge will perform for you is determined by your own usage. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is quite absorbent and the air is warm and dry.

Here are some things that might help lower your ink costs:
      - Black is used extensively in most printouts. Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out black and colored ink
      - Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses will save electricity and a few drops of ink here and there that are used to keep the inkjets cleared and ready for your next print job.
      - Instant Ink lets you pay by the page. Check out the details at: instantink.com

If it appears that poor performance is due to a defect or you got a cartridge that was already low on ink, you are free to contact the seller about that.
