Proliferation of Cartridge Types
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a corporate rip-off! Do we really need 100's of cartridge models? This is just a way to exploit customers. We should all go back to pen and paper.

Posted .Hi Manu,
There are two possibilities. One is that the printer didn't register the ink inside the cartridge. This is the most likely scenario. The other possibility is that the cartridge contained no ink due to an error or leak. You could try to reinsert the cartridge after restarting the printer to get it to register. You also may start a return. Returns to Best Buy go through www.bestbuy.com/site/help-topics/return-exchange-policy/.

Dry out of the box
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you buy something like this it should work out of the box. A new ink cartridge shouldn't be dried out new in box.

Posted .Hi Joy,
I regret that you have had this experience. I can understand if you were disappointed.
Ink usage usually determines how long each individual cartridge lasts. High-density prints (like images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the surrounding air is dry.
Here are some things that might help lower your ink usage:
- Set the printer to draft mode whenever possible
- Shut the printer down between uses
- Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying
- Subscribe to Instant Ink, then you only pay by the page and not for the cartridges themselves
The seller is responsible for the product you bought from them. If you believe there was something wrong with the cartridge that affected its performance you should contact them about it.

Posted .Hi Demmy,

Ink usage usually determines how long each individual cartridge lasts. High-density prints (like images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the surrounding air is dry.
You might consider using XL cartridges. Most people say they are a much better value. Also, if you print a lot of photos or other high-density printouts, Instant Ink might be a good option for you. You only pay by the page and not for the cartridges themselves.
The seller is responsible for the product you bought from them. If the poor performance appears to be due to the individual cartridge itself, consider returning it to the seller.

Why stick with. HP printers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP cartidges do not hold as much ink as they used to. I frequently have to go hunting for places that carry the cartridges. So many stores no longer carry them. And those that do have increased the cost

Posted .Hi Sonia, thank you for your feedback, sorry to hear you are unhappy with the Page yield of your HP 63 XL High Yield Black Ink Cartridge. Historically printer manufacturers used their own methods for estimating page yield. However, this made it difficult to compare different products. Nowadays, the published page yield is based on the Industry Standard for measuring yields (refer to International Standards Organization ISO 24711). The actual yield varies considerably based on the content of the printed pages, the frequency of printing, the ink used in set-up etc. You may find that you will get more pages when printing in Fast draft mode. XL size cartridges offer up to 50% lower cost per page compared with standard size cartridges. Our recommendation would be that you leave your printer powered on in normal usage conditions, only power it down if you will not use it for an extended period of time (i.e.: longer than one month). Low Yield
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even though the product states, ‘high yield,’ it seems like it yields more ink per print, rather than more ink in the cartridge. It lasted less than half the amount of time as the regular black ink cartridge, for the same print jobs.

Posted .Hello,
I'm sorry that your cartridge didn't last that long. I can understand if you are disappointed. Most people consider the XL version of the cartridge to be a better value.
Unless the cartridge was damaged or defective, the ink usage would determine how long it lasts. If you were printing mostly high density printouts, that could have affected its longevity.
Here are a couple facts about ink usage that might help:
- A high-density print (with images or graphs) will use ink more quickly than a text-only document.
- Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can result in some savings
- Shutting the printer down between uses can also help; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That lets it ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
- Instant Ink might be worth trying. The subscription plans are based on how many pages you print. You can check out the details at: HPinstantink.com
If you feel that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you have the option to request a replacement or refund.
