I need to bring the cartridge back to the store the black ink didn’t last long at all maybe about six pages. It was probably a default because the one I had previous lasted a lot longer than this one.

      Hello Cassie,

I am very sorry that your black cartridge wasn't a good one. It should have printed much more.

You can return it or exchange it either to the store or by mail. Information about that can be found at:

Not very happy with the amount of copies that can be printed with this product. I wish there was a reliable alternative but I'm reluctant to use anything other than a HP ink cartridge in my HP printer. Very expensive.

      Hi Clyde,

I'm sorry that this happened to you, I can understand your disappointment when the cartridges seem to run out too quickly. You might consider getting the XL version of the cartridge. Most people find it to be a better value.

How a cartridge will perform in your own printer will vary according to several things. High-density prints (like images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the surrounding air is dry.

Here are some things that might help lower your ink usage:
      - Set the printer to draft mode whenever possible
      - Using the black-only setting will save on colored ink usage.
      - Shut the printer down between uses
      - Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying

I don't really like it because you have to use the printer constantly and if you don't use it the ink will dry soon. Bad quality.

      Hello,

I hear your input. The printer cartridges can dry out quickly, especially in summer. I have a great tip to counter this issue.

Instead of printing and wasting ink, manually clean off the printhead weekly. The printer also has an automatic maintenance option, although I prefer manual cleaning.

Another strategy is to turn off the printer when it is not in use. This action returns the cartridge to a covered position, preventing dried cartridges.

I will never buy another HP inkjet again. Their ink is garbage now!! If you use the printer often, the ink will run out very quickly. If you don't use it often enough, the ink cartridges dry out and put lines through everything! Either way, HP gets more of your money for buying new cartridges constantly!! Screw you HP I'm buying a laser printer.... and definitely not your brand!!

My only problem with these ink cartridges in that they dry up fast if you don’t use them. I won’t be buying another HP printer. I have seen the eco friendly printer that you can fill the cartridges yourself.

      Hi Lee,

I am very sorry if you are disappointed that the cartridges seem to dry up when you aren't printing much. I do have some tips for you that might help though.

If you only print occasionally, it is a good idea to shut the printer down between uses. That will save electricity and also the drop of ink that the printer has to use occasionally to keep the tiny inkjet nozzles cleared.

However, it is important to always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridge is protected from excessive drying which leads to clogging. The clogs can be cleaned using the routine from the printer's menu, but it wastes some ink.

Speaking of waste, HP is very good about trying to protect the environment. Our plants and offices have won awards for reduction of waste and recycling efforts. HP also has the Planet Partners program which recycles cartridges, printers and other product waste:
      https://www8.hp.com/us/en/hp-information/recycling/ink-toner.html

If it appears that poor performance from the cartridge is due to a defect or you got a cartridge that was already low on ink, please contact the seller.

According to the Best Buy website: "If you receive a product that is damaged in shipping, defective or that is not the product you ordered, please return it during your return and exchange time period to Best Buy and we'll arrange for a replacement. If you would rather return the item by mail during your return and exchange time period, please call us for special instructions at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289)."
