Although there was ink visible on the outside of the cartridge, it would not work. My printer kept giving me an error message saying there was an alignment issue & printer is out of ink. But as I put the old cartridge back in, my printer worked perfectly again. I tried calling & getting in chats to report this & request a refund but it was denied with the automated phone service. I never could get ahold of a customer care specialist whatsoever over a 7 day period. So, now I’m out almost $18 for ink that doesn’t even work!

I realized that I bought the wrong one only after I opened it so I couldn't return it. The ink is still sitting on my desk cause I couldn't find anyone who needs it

The printer refuses to print even though the cartridge is at least half full (determined by comparing weights of empty and full cartridges) and forces you to buy a new cartridge. I will not buy another hp printer, nor cartridges.

I regret that you have had this experience. Ink usage usually determines how long each individual cartridge lasts. High-density prints (like images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the surrounding air is dry.
The seller is responsible for the product you bought from them. If the poor performance appears to be due to the individual cartridge itself, consider contacting the seller.

At first, I thought the old one dried out because I didn’t use much. I paid more attention to the 2nd one and realized I was able to print less than the 100-120 pages stated in description. Ink is cheaper than other brands but in the long run, it will cost more. Wish I bought a Cannon printer like when I was living with my parents. We only had to buy ink once a year. Now I’m stuck with a costly printer!

I'm sorry that you didn't get more pages from the cartridge. The advertised estimates of pages are based on a standard set of prints used by the industry. How each individual cartridge will perform for you is determined by your own usage and environmental factors.
Here are some things that might help lower your ink costs:
- Black is used a lot in almost every printout. Use the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out black and colored ink
- Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
- Shutting the printer down between uses will save electricity and a few drops of ink here and there that are used to keep the inkjets cleared and ready for your next print job.
- Instant Ink lets you pay by the page. Check out the details at the HP Instant Ink site.

Our XL cartridges are fantastic. Still, I'm sorry you did not enjoy the standard-sized cartridge. Try print preview and the black ink-only setting. Trouble taking out of the printer is usually due to the fit of the cartridge. Gently insert the cartridge until you hear a snap sound.
