Customers highly value the 65 Standard Capacity Ink Cartridge for its ink quality, ease of use, and reasonable price. Many appreciate its compatibility and smooth installation process. The main drawback appears to be its limited availability.

      Hi,

I am sorry that your cartridge didn't last too long. I hope that I can help this situation.

There is a possibility that the cartridge just needs cleaning. Your printer should have an automatic routine to do that. Check the user guide, if you don't know how to start the cleaning process.

If that helps, the printer might have been turned off using a power strip or switch. While you can save ink by shutting the printer off between uses, the printer should always be turned off using the power button on the printer itself. That will let it 'park' so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying. The drying can cause clogs in the tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper.

When it seems that the low page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, it is always an option to contact the seller about it.

      Hi Kathleen,

I'm sorry that your ink seems to have been used up too quickly. I can understand how frustrating that can be!

Here are a few facts about ink usage that might help:
      - A high-density print (like a photo) will use the ink more quickly than a low-density print (a text-only document), especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
      - Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help save ink.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can help. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' itself so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.
      - If you suspect that the low page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you are always free to contact the seller.

If none of those tips work, and if the defective genuine HP cartridge is not replaced by the seller (and is still within the warranty end dates on the cartridge) you can reach out to us for support: hp.com/contactHP

Bought this with instant ink. Terrible program. Went to buy this and found it won’t work in my printer because it wasn’t an instant ink style. They held my printer hostage. Into the dumpster.

      Hi,

I understand that the black ink cartridges are a staple of the printing process. Running out of ink early is unenjoyable for our customers.
It might be a defective cartridge, as you mentioned. Still, it might relate to the printing use.

Running the heat a lot at home? Hot air dries out the cartridge. Did you print designs or photos? Those prints use more ink. Use different types of paper? Thicker paper is another culprit. Did you use draft mode? Draft mode saves on printing copies you didn't use.

      Hi Vera,

I'm sorry that the cartridge wasn't printing as well as you'd have liked. You probably need to adjust the print settings for darker prints and you might need to run a cleaning routine to make sure some of the nozzles aren't clogged.

Since the Instant Ink cartridges usually last a bit longer than most, I'm thinking you might be referring to the setup cartridge. That one is used to initialize the printer and therefore does not usually last as long.

That shouldn't affect the price for you at all though, you are paying for pages, not cartridges.

      Hello Jane,

I'm sorry that you didn't get a cartridge that worked more than a week. I can imagine how frustrating that must have been.

If it appears that poor performance is due to a defect or you were sent a cartridge already low on ink, please contact the seller.

According to the Best Buy website: "If you receive a product that is damaged in shipping, defective or that is not the product you ordered, please return it during your return and exchange time period to Best Buy and we'll arrange for a replacement. If you would rather return the item by mail during your return and exchange time period, please call us for special instructions at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289)."

      Hi,

I understand you are disappointed in the results of the cartridge. You should receive more than just a few pages. Are you sure you didn't get more pages than you realize? People tend to underestimate the amount of pages they printed. Regular maintenance helps the ink last longer. If you decrease the print quality settings from the pre-set options, the ink will stretch longer. I would also suggest taking out the cartridge and wiping the printhead with a damp cloth.

      Hi,

I regret that you have had this experience. I can understand if you were disappointed when the cartridge seem to run out too quickly.

Ink usage usually determines how long each individual cartridge lasts. High-density prints (like images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the surrounding air is dry.

If the poor performance appears to be due to the individual cartridge itself, consider returning it to the seller.
