I did have some problems a couple years back with the color cartridge changing colors (going "muddy" looking). I hadn't been using the printer much, but the ink was still within the "best before" date. My last 2 cartridges have been fine, though … maybe a faulty batch. The ink IS a little expensive, but I guess that's why the printers are reasonably inexpensive. I do plan on staying with HP.
