I'm sorry that you are not getting longer usage of your cartridges.You are correct in thinking that XL ones are probably a better value.
That said, I have a few tips that might help extend the life of even the regular cartridges:
- You can use the printer's draft mode and black-only settings, whenever possible, to save ink.
- Shutting the printer down between uses can help; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That lets the printer ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
- If you suspect that the low page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you are always free to contact the seller.

I had to get a new printer and the cotton pickin ink cartridges that I just bought won't fit! There isn't much of a difference between the 2 printers. I don't know why they can't just make the ink cartridges fit. It's basically the same model only 3 years newer. That's why I only gave it 4 stars. Other than that, the ink works great.
