It’s misleading to sell the packet of 4 colors and one does not fit or work in the printer. And why are ink cartridges so expensive in the first place???? So disappointed.

I am sorry you discovered the black cartridge does not fit into your printer. If the cartridge is compatible with your printer model, it should snap into the cartridge holder. In this case, a return might be the best option.

Defective hp cartridges

No one can help me get replacements and a mailing label to return these. I have been purchasing items including appliances and computers for years and am disappointed it is this difficult to resolve. I am sorry that you had this experience. It was sure to be disappointing when the printer is not printing color like it should.
It is probably that the printhead inkjets are clogged up (and especially badly for the colored inks). There is a cleaning routine available from the printer's menu that you can use to clear the inkjets. The routine might need to be run more than once to clean out the clogs completely.
It is a good idea to shut the printer down between uses. However, it is important to always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridge is protected from excessive drying which leads to clogging
