I bought this as an extra back up if I ran out of black ink first. But I haven't gotten a chance to use it yet! But it was a good price.

Doesn't seem to last very long at all. We don't do a ton of printing and ran out of ink pretty frequently, anyway.

      Hello there,

I can understand if you are disappointed when the cartridges seem to run out too quickly. How each individual cartridge will perform for you is determined by your own usage. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is quite absorbent and the air is warm and dry.

Here are some things that might help lower your ink costs:
      - Black is used extensively in most printouts. Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out black and colored ink
      - Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses will save electricity and a few drops of ink here and there that are used to keep the inkjets cleared and ready for your next print job.
      - Instant Ink lets you pay by the page. Check out the details at: instantink.com

I had a problem with the first one I bought. Be careful and open it over a trash can it may explode or leak! Luckily when I open mine I was doing this and black ink could've gone everywhere. When I returned it the lady said they don't usually take cartridges back, but they would make exception this time, Lady, you will exchange this, this wasn't my problem, clearly I bought this an hour ago and I have black ink all over my hands still.

      Hi there!

I am so sorry that you had this situation when you opened the cartridge. It was lucky that you were being careful!

These cartridges do need to be opened carefully. The instructions for installing the cartridges include this caution statement:
"Make sure you remove the orange pull-tab and plastic wrap completely before you remove the orange cap in the next step. Otherwise, ink might leak from the ink cartridge. "

You also need to be cautious when turning the orange cap. I'd be tempted to put a cloth over the cartridge when twisting it, just in case!

Glad you were able to get it exchanged!

I have had this in my printer for less than a month and it’s already telling me it’s low on ink, even though it’s been used very little. What a joke. The off brand cartridges last a whole lot longer and are half the price but my HP won’t accept them. :/

      Hello there,

We have received the feedback that you are dissatisfied. I am very sorry to hear that. These are some solutions to improve your page yields. First, check your printer and printer settings. Ensure there isn't a leak within the printer. Run the automatic maintenance option at least weekly. Take the time to scan pages for errors with print preview. See if there is an XL version of this cartridge.

HP cartridges are always functional. They are also overpriced and under filled. Finding refilled cartridges for half the price is always preferable.

      Hi,

I am sorry that your cartridge didn't last long. I can understand why you are disappointed by that fact.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for you to try the XL version. Most people think that the XL cartridges are a much better value, depending on how much printing you do.

When I put this ink cartridge in my printer, it said refurbished. It on ly lasted a few weeks and I only printed 3 times. Which equaled around 12 copies. I asked the Best Buy employee if they sold refurbished cartridges and he said no. It comes straight from the manufacturer (HP). I’ve never had this happen before. Way too expensive to be buying a cartridge so soon

      Hello,

My apologies for this happening to you. I'm not sure how to help with changing it, but can offer some tips for getting more printouts.

The print jobs you send to the printer usually determine how long a cartridge lasts (unless it was damaged or defective). High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will run the cartridge out faster.

Here are some things that might help lower your ink usage:
      - Consider using XL cartridges. Most people say they are a much better value
      - Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible
      - Shut the printer down between uses
      - Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying
      - Subscribe to Instant Ink, then you only pay by the page, not for the cartridges themselves

      Hi,

I am sorry that the cartridge didn't last as long as you thought it should. It might be because it was damaged or defective.

Ink usage determines how long a cartridge lasts, unless it was damaged or defective. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the air is dry.

Here are some things that might help lower your ink usage:
      - Black is used a lot in almost every printout. Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out your ink
      - Shut the printer down between uses; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - Consider getting Instant Ink. The subscription plans let you pay by the page. Check out the details at: instantink.com

The seller is responsible for the product they sent to you. If it was low on ink when it arrived, or if a defect is stopping it from printing, contact the seller about that.
