I am so sorry there have been issues with the ink and the printer. Your review is not very specific, making it hard to suggest fixes. We want you to have a positive experience. Hi Nick,

I was unhappy to find you are having this problem. The advertised estimates of pages are based on a standard set by the industry.

How each cartridge will perform for you is determined by your usage. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is extra absorbent and the air is warm and dry.

Here are some things that might help lower your ink costs:
      - Black is used a lot in almost every printout. Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out black and colored ink
      - Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses will save electricity and a few drops of ink here and there that are used to keep the inkjets cleared and ready for your next print job.
      - Instant Ink lets you pay by the page and can save you a lot, especially if you print high-density frequently. Check out the details at: instantink.com

If it appears that poor performance is due to a defect or you got a cartridge that was already low on ink, please contact the seller. You can return a defective cartridge or exchange it either to the store or by mail.

According to the Best Buy website: "If you receive a product that is damaged in shipping, defective or that is not the product you ordered, please return it during your return and exchange time period to Best Buy and we'll arrange for a replacement. If you would rather return the item by mail during your return and exchange time period, please call us for special instructions at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289)."

      Hi Dax,

It’s a shame the printer is blocking the cartridge from printing. That outcome is less than we desire for our customers. To ensure the correct result, take out the cartridge. I recommend leaving the cartridge out and restarting the printer. Revert any recent software updates. These updates render the cartridge old. Then, try to print again.

      Hello there,

I can give you some background on why all three cartridges are required. Some prints require a blend of ink colors. While this situation may seem like an unnecessary hurdle, there is a trick to getting around this rule. Use the black ink only setting on your printer. This action saves the color cartridges, so you rarely need to print with them.

      Hi,

I am sorry that the cartridge was empty. That seems disappointing, but you can check to see if it can be returned. There should be a record of it either of an online sale, or if you used a card.

Good luck with this. I hope it works out!

      Hello,

I am sorry that the cartridge you received performed so poorly. Unless the cartridge was damaged or defective, the ink usage determines how long it will last. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use up more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.

Here are some things that might help lower your ink usage:
      - Use the printer's draft mode and black-only settings, whenever possible, to save ink.
      - Shut the printer down between uses; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That lets it ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - Consider getting Instant Ink. The subscription plans are based on how many pages you print. You can check out the details at: HPinstantink.com

When it seems that the low page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, it is always an option to contact the seller.

      Hi,

I am sorry that the cartridge didn’t last long for you. I can understand if you are not happy about that.

Ink usage determines how long your cartridge lasts. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the surrounding air is dry.

Here are some things that might help lower your ink usage:
      - Set the printer to draft mode whenever possible
      - Consider using XL cartridges. Most people say they are a much better value
      - Shut the printer down between uses
      - Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying

If your experience appears to be due to a defective cartridge, please check about returning it. Step-by-step instructions for completing the return and exchange process is covered at:
