I've never printed anything in color but I have to replace the color ink regularly. It just uses it up when you turn on the printer.

great quality ink cartridge package
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using the HP all in one printer for several years now and always purchase the color ink cartridges as a package of three rather than individual cartridges. It lasts me almost a year (granted I only use the color ink when I need a color copy) and always delivers great color quality. I even will sometimes print pictures and I am satisfied with the quality as well.

Great printing color

Two complaints; first is how much ink is used to calibrate and or clean the print heads and secondly how quickly you go through ink. I've actually starting putting the date on the cartridges so I know when I replace them how long they lasted. I do much more scanning and faxing than I do printing and I'm lucky if I get 3 months out of a set. Even the XL's don't seem to go that far. Seriously looking into a color laser. At least then I know I'll get upwards of 500-1000 or more pages before I have to do a refill. Right now I'm lucky if I get 50-75 pages before the cartridges are empty.
