All ink jets run out fast

I don't print from my printer very often maybe 2-8 pages three times within six months. Within the 6 months I get a message on my printer that the ink is low or you must replace ink to continue to print. I don't know if hp ink evaporates or what but from my experience I would not buy an hp printer or ink again.
