I think the max colored items it capable to printing is less than 15 - and I don't mean full page. Very disappointing. But choices are so limited as the printer - HP 6830 rejects most aftermarket cartridges.

Here are a few facts about ink usage that might help:
- A high-density print (like a photo) will use the ink more quickly than a text-only document, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
- Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help save on ink.
- Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.
If you feel that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you have the option to:

I did a couple of cleaning the print head and alignment. The ink was gone in a a couple of days. I think it was a recycled cartridge. I won't be buying this again. Never had ink go so quickly.

A month is less than an optimal amount for the cartridge to last. The ink dried out rather quickly. Let's assess your usage to come up with a solution. First, many customers are printing many more pages than they realize. If you print fifty pages a week, it makes sense the cartridge might only last a month. Each printer has a setting specifically for black ink if you can forgo color ink. Many printers also have automatic settings for ink quality. Decreasing these settings slightly will conserve ink while maintaining ink quality. Printer shutdowns move the cartridge to a protected position. This position prevents the cartridge from drying.

I do use the XL on black cartridges -- and it gives a really good yield. The color cartridges produce excellent quality as well.
