HP ink last fine for personal use

You can turn in old cartridges and get a receipt, discount towards new ink purchase, but it is for limited days, and I don't usually need ink again that soon. I do get Black sometimes, as that is used the most, but worry about keeping other cartridges too long, before use, and drying out, even when not opened.
