Here are a few facts about ink usage that might help:
- A high-density print (like a photo) will use the ink more quickly than a low-density print (a text-only document), especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
- Using the draft and black only settings, when possible, on your printer can help save colored inks.
- Shutting the printer down between uses can help. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer 'park' itself so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.None of the 4 HP replacement Inkjet cartridges worked properly and I called HP for support. Initially HP refused to help because the printer was a bit over the one year printer warranty. I said it was their new ink carteidges that would not work . Eventually the support person, who was hard to understand but very helpful, had me clean all 4 inkjets, plus the copper contacts. We were finally able to get the printer working properly without low / no ink fault warnings. HP no longer wraps each cartridge in a sealed foil bag, nor do they cover the jets with a plastic cap. Using the cardboard box by itself is a poor way to protect this type of product.
