The order was supposed to be delivered early this week. Today, Jan 8th I got an e-mail saying "We're working on shipping this item. It's unlikely, but if your item isn't available by Mon, January 22, we'll issue a refund." There is no way to cancel the order on-line, so I called Best Buy's 800 number. I was told by Best Buy that they cannot cancel the order at this time. If you are out of ink and can wait 2 weeks, then Best Buy is probably a great place to by on-line.

I am convinced when they say XL. The cost on these cartridges are outrageous. Plus, you can not refill them.

I am sorry that the cartridge didn't print as much as you expected That sounds disappointing.
The advertised estimates of pages are based on a standards set by the industry. How each individual cartridge will perform for you is determined by your own usage. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is quite absorbent and the air is warm and dry.
Here are some things that might help lower your ink costs:
- Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out black and colored ink
- Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
- Shutting the printer down between uses will save electricity and a few drops of ink here and there that are used to keep the inkjets cleared and ready for your next print job.
- Instant Ink lets you pay by the page. Check out the details at: instantink.com
Refilling is never recommended since the ink used in refills is often quite inferior and the process can damage the cartridge, which in turn could damage the printer itself.

The ink would only last about three months with very light usage. It was getting more expensive to replace cartridges than replacing the printer. I finally decided to trash this model and go with the Officejet. So far so good.

It can be frustrating to not have cartridges last long. I can understand why you are frustrated.
How a cartridge will perform in your printer, is affected by several variables, including the surrounding environment and the density of the prints. High-density prints (such as greeting cards, posters, images and graphs) will run a cartridge out faster, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the air is dry.
Some things that might result in ink savings:
- A lot of black is used in almost every printout. The printer's draft mode can stretch out both black and colored ink
- Turn off the printer between uses; however, always use the printer's power button to shut it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ in a way that protects the cartridges from drying and clogging up.
- Think about enrolling in Instant Ink. Subscription plans allow you to pay by the page. Check out the details at: instantink.com
If it appears that poor performance is due to a defect or you were sent a cartridge already low on ink, please contact the seller.
