    This is great printer

The total time to set up the hardware and run the CD to connect to network was 20 minutes, and probably 5 of it was time waiting for the program to load the entire suite. The cartridges are a snap to load, the paper feeder has a positive feel when dropping paper into it and aligning the print head is easy using the scanner feature. My main computer is a Mac Mini and secondary is a Dell. The software and setup was a snap for both. The scanner works great. I'm also happy that Air Print is a feature so that I can print from my iPhone. This is a great printer!

    Awesome Printer for Windows 8

This printer is exactly what I needed. I needed to upgrade to a printer that would work with windows 8 and this is the one. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's always offline when it comes to wireless printing. I didn't feel like figuring this problem out so I just print with the wire in my laptop.

    Do NOT Recommend

Prints one page, then spits out the rest. Says out of ink when it is not. I replaced the ink anyways and then it came up with "spooled error". I think mine is actually defective, but even if if you get one that is not, this printer does not allow you to use all the ink that is in the cartridge. As soon as the printer detects "low ink" (even though the previous page printed just fine) you need to replace it.

Defective out of the box, bad customer service

Hope and pray that it functions when it arrives, because if it is defective or has a problem, HP customer service has no idea what they are doing and are a nightmare to work with. Its been over a month that I have been trying to get a replacement printer. Each customer rep says something different and the whole system is messed up.

    Wireless does not work

I wanted a wireless printer. This one works at first wireless, but everytime after I try to use it the wireless feature does not work. I have yet to get it working without redoing all the setup procedures . Defeats the purpose.

    Won't print text

This printer has an issue printing text. I've read a ton of support cases and they all suggest the same, useless fixes. Update driver. Reinstall driver. Update firmware. None of these work. Others have installed other HP drivers and have had limited success. Who needs this headache? Dont waste your time and money. Buy a different brand.

    Doesn't work with iPad Air

We bought this printer for my in-laws to use with their recently acquired iPad Air (with 4G, A7 processor), They aren't very tech savvy. Normally, setting up a printer is at most a 5 or 10 minute process. Not so with the HP Desk Jet 2540. I tried using the URL they supply with the set up information; I tried going to HP's site to download the software; I tried the link supplied when I contacted HP through their chat. It just doesn't load, neither with HP ePrint app for Mac, nor without it. Not sure if HP is the problem or Apple, but do not buy this printer if you have the new iPad Air.

    Junk

This printer is absolute junk. Ran out of ink the second week we had it with barely any printing done. Its finicky about when it even wants to print your documents. Sometimes I have to just hit all the buttons several times before it finally decides to print. I wish I would have just shelled out the extra cash to buy ink for my old printer instead.
