HP 2755e - Normal operation is impossible

I bought the HP 2755e wireless printer. Documentation says setup must be done via a wireless connection, but it can operate using a USB connection. It does not work. I cannot get this printer to work. I went to Best Buy last Saturday, and was told that this is a common problem. The return policy is limited to 10 days, but I have spent over 10 days trying to get it to work with no success. Never will I ever purchase HP again.

      Hi, Sally.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has been so difficult to set up and that you’ve still not been able to make it work. It’s no surprise that you’re frustrated, considering the harsh setup process and the fact that you’ve missed the retailer’s return period. I want to help you remedy the situation, so I’ll direct you to a resource and offer some information I hope will accomplish that goal.

First, I’ll point out that HP+ printers come with exclusive concierge support. To call and reach live HP+ experts who can help you assess what’s going on and find a solution, visit the following URL and enter your HP+ serial number:
      - hp.com/plus-help

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies – and that warranty extends to two years with an HP+ account – so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

    A disappointing purchase to me

I bought this printer because I already had two opened cartridges HP 67XL(colerd&blak inc) that I bought mistakenly for my older printer HP2130. 1st: The new printer came with two new cartridges that I wanted to do not open and save for later, but this never happened because the printer won't allow you to get it set up until you put the standard cartridges that come with - HP 67, so one pair of cartridges will get dried soon. 2nd: There is nothing about "simple and clever" in HP ideology especially when you think about their software... I'm a network engineer for more than 10 years and this didn't help me to not get frustrated during the printer setup, the wifi glitched all the time, and needed to follow the installation procedure many times. PS: still can't print from all my LAN PCs/Laptops, need to figure out what's wrong :) Good luck!

When it works it works great. I bought this for my high school student when she was distance learning for the pandemic. It definitely come in handy. For some reason even when it indicates it is ready and connected to my network, my phone app or my laptop won't see it and I have to shut it off and turn it back on.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry that you’ve experienced difficulty with your printer’s wireless connection. I can’t tell for sure what specific roadblocks you’ve encountered, but I’ll nonetheless provide some resources I hope will help you get the device performing reliably.

First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including setup and wireless connectivity. You can find that page here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics

For more help with difficulties, or to learn more about your printer and all its features, you can access troubleshooting guides – including ones on connectivity – as well as how-to documents, user manuals and software updates here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/2100187846

If the problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

    Great for Very Specific Users

This is an excellent entry-level printer aimed at a very specific set of users. Functionally, this model handles printing and scanning as well as other models do in the same price range. Inserting and replacing ink cartridges is a snap, and the unit is compact enough to fit on top of a low bookshelf (or, in my case, on a storage tower). Where people might get frustrated with this model is in the focus on the HP Smart App. Users can't even complete setup without downloading and installing it. If you're used to printing from mobile devices like cell phones, you're already familiar with having to navigate software menus to send documents to wireless printers. Android users in particular usually have to go through (at a minimum) the HP e-services plug-in in order to successfully send a document for printing. The HP Smart App is essentially an attempt to provide a common method for interacting with a printer across multiple platforms, including iOS, Android, Windows 10, and Mac OSX. If you're just as likely to print from your phone as your computer, then this app might be a good solution for you. The app is clean and well-designed, even though it does nag users to enroll in HP's auto-refill Instant Ink program. Within it, users can see their printing queue, their ink levels, and the status of their recent printing requests. Users absolutely have to use the app to check information that would be typically available on the printer display, since the display on this model has been downsized in keeping with the focus on the HP Smart App. As far as connectivity issues go, one thing prospective buyers should bear in mind is that the printer will go into sleep mode when not in use and will not be discoverable over a network until woken up again. This is actually true of most HP printers, but not clearly communicated in the set up process or the app itself. The frustration some people are having with the seeming tech failures of the printer is consequently understandable, but something that could be fixed in a future app update that will simply send a "wake your printer up" message when users try and print while the device is sleeping. There are some benefits, though, if uses are willing to accept the app as a printing helper (which is what it is intended as). If you think of the app as a common, platform-agnostic solution that will enable printing from your phone, tablet, or computer, then you might even find the experience more convenient. If you'd rather work with a more familiar "set and forget" wireless printer, then you might be interested in a different model. In summary, this model is well worth the price for its feature set and build quality, but buyers should take note that desktop printing might require some more steps than you're used to. If you print primarily from mobile devices, the streamlining of the print menus in the Smart App may make this a great experience for you.
