Customers are impressed with the Envy 16" laptop's performance, touch screen, and graphics capabilities, frequently citing its smooth operation and high-quality display. Many also appreciate the ample RAM and storage, along with its build quality and competitive price. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and that the laptop can be heavy and generate noticeable fan noise during intensive use. The device's tendency to heat up is also a recurring concern.

Laptop could have been AMAZING
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do not know if it was the treatment during transit or if the laptop was a lemon. It was glitching, like the pictures I have provided with this review. I only had it for one day for it to be behaving like that. Other than that, the display graphics are excellent, plus it was fast. It’s a shame that I had returned it to the store.

The real deal
|Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a huge fan of this laptop (no pun intended). It is very powerful and will handle just about any task you throw at it including moderate to heavy gaming tasks. RAM is not a problem as 16 GB is enough but if your feeling like it's not enough, it is expandable which is really nice. Also, the storage is expandable as well which is great. In addition, the screen is very high quality. It is bright, has a good contrast ratio, and is sharp. My only complaint is how reflective it is, but that's grasping at straws. My biggest complaint is the battery life. I normally can get 3-4ish hours unplugged if I am doing light tasks like browsing the internet and mabye 1.5 hours I'd I'm lucky playing games. This is to be expected though as the batteries need to power an i9 and a 4060... So just be aware. Another minor complaint is how finicky the cooling system is. If you want maximum cooling I highly, highly recommend having it propped up at an angle so the fan isn't blowing like crazy all the time. Overall it's one of the best laptops of it's kind. I highly recommend.

Powerful laptop with great built quality
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used the laptop for over a month before writing this review. I also want to point out that I bought this laptop for $1250 with a 3-year insurance plan which made my final price end up around the MSRP. PROS: - The screen is very nice with 120Hz, 16", RGB support, and resolution slightly better than 1440p. - The I9 is powerful and will not bottleneck the GPU - The 4060 is very powerful and can multitask without breaking a sweat with work and productivity apps. - The built quality at this price point is significantly better than most. its sleek metal design does not feel flimsy. - The sound quality by Bang & Olufsen is better than most, but I still suggest a good pair of headphones - A wide variety of ports is nice - The RAM, storage, and Wi-Fi card are upgradeable CONS: - This is not an HDR screen. the colors look nice on the screen, but with HDR they could have been better. - The 4060 runs hot after a while. While performance was not throttled, the laptop did feel warmer to the touch. - There is no full-sized SD card reader; there is a micro though. - Screen brightness is not enough for most outdoor use - HP bloatware is still a problem with preinstalled apps and a certain security program that is a pain to uninstall Neutral: - Battery life is a little weird. on average I have been clocking in about 6 hours of battery life with it set to 120Hz at all times with screen brightness at around 65% to 70%. Battery life varies on what you do with the laptop and your settings so I did not put it in either pro or con. - The SSD speeds are fast. they are not the most blazing fast but by no means are they slow. They will suffice for 90% of people. Extra: I do not like gaming on PC, so I tend to avoid it, but I decided to try it out one weekend. I played overwatch 2 on the recommended settings which was basically medium everything. This is what I found: - Power not plugged in got me a locked in 46fps - Power plugged in got me a locked 120fps In both cases the laptop ran really hot, and it was the only time the fans started spinning fast enough for me to notice them. I do want to note that I did not have the proper gaming Nvidia drives installed. I had the work/creator focused drivers installed instead. So even without the proper drivers, I was able to play on online hero shooter game without any problems. Just to show how good the specs are for moderate gaming if that is what you choose to do. Conclusion: I highly enjoy this laptop and can see it lasting me a long time. If I do not upgrade anything at all then I could see it performing without a problem for another 5 years. If I upgrade the RAM, storage, and properly maintaining the laptop then I can see this laptop easily performing Highly well for 7 to 10 years. I highly recommend this laptop.

My very long review on the HP Envy
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hello future spenders looking for a laptop computer! First off I am not always so great with reviews and I really never go by what others say about a product because everyone is looking for something that they will like. The only words I can add to my purchase of this product is I enjoy it very much. I waited until it was on sale to buy it because it was nearly as much as some of the gaming laptops so I think I got a great deal at around 1300. I don’t want to look to see if it’s cheaper now because it will go down eventually. The only things I don’t like about the laptop is its kinda heavy then any laptop I owned before and I am still getting use to the small screen. My last laptop was also HP and a much bigger screen and lighter. I am still using my mouse but you can do the touchscreen also even with the mouse in. I like all that and it’s super fast. I had an i5. This laptop is i9 and at first I wasn’t looking for an i9. Lots of space for me so I most likely will leave it as is because I am not a big gamer but this laptop so far has played many games that I have on steam. Very fast loading, no crashes at all so far, very good graphics, sound etc. like the keyboard lights to I didn’t have that with other laptops. This is my second HP laptop I love the brand and never had any problems with HP. My last laptop is now my sons and even on that one only one game is slow but that’s why I got the Envy laptop I needed an upgrade.

Couple fries short of a perfect happy meal
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There was a manufacturing mistake on the LCD frame. But the performance was much better than expected (although the fans could be mistaken for a jet engine under load) and everything else related to build quality was in good shape. It's not the fanciest machine, and weighs more than I would like. But for an all around workhorse that flies under the radar, it's easy to recommend—especially if you can get it on sale like I did.

Very good, just a little loud
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My main issues with this laptop are that the fan can get really loud at times and the battery life can be short depending on what you're doing. Everything else about this laptop is superb. The build feels incredible and performing tasks is super quick and responsive. The screen is also beautiful, but a little bit dim, however it isn't much of an issue for me.

Really nice latop for the price
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have owned this laptop for 4 months and have been very happy with it so far. It's able to run Photoshop and recent games easily although the top gets quite hot when plugged in and running something graphically intensive. I picked up a laptop cooling pad and found that really helped keep it cool. Buold quality is nice and the metal case has a premium feel. The laptop is easily upgradable and i was able to bump up to 32GB of RAM and add a second SSD in about 20 minutes even with minimal experience working on computers. I had one issue with it where the mouse cursor would lag and the sound would distort intermittently. Unfortunately HP wasnt much help and told me several times their system was down and to call bacl later. It turned out to be a software issue fixed by a factory reset but i thought the lacking HP service was worth noting.

HP Envy 16 Doesn't Dissapoint!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to the HP ENVY 16, you can rest assured this will be a reliable laptop when it comes to just about anything. I was super happy when I got this for 650 dollars off, not to mention a free 6-month anti-virus software! **PROS** -Excellent Speed -RTX 4060 -Performs Well at Multi-Tasking -Windows Hello -Great Screen Display -Sleek Designs 1 TB of Storage **CONS** -Not really into the trackpad (Kind of laggy) -Battery only lasts for an hour and a half, but I'm always near my charger when I'm on it, so this isn't much of a big issue for me -Can get hot at times, but doesn't get hot near where your hands would be **NEUTRAL** -It could be brighter, but it's relatively bright (not like those HP OMENs...) -Somewhat heavy, but I don't mind it -Webcam is iffy, but it's alright

Premium Laptop Worth Every Penny!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Envy 16 was on a major discount when I purchased it selling for $1200 and it was well worth the purchase. A 16 inch QHD display with a resolution that is slightly better than 1440p, and a touchscreen on top of that. The build quality is premium for the price point which is spectacular knowing it isn’t a cheaply built laptop. Don’t get me started on the specs with a rtx 4060 for gaming and 13th gen core I9 which for programming is excellent. When I game on this device the fans do pick up, but if you have headphones on it isn’t noticeable. For normal day to day use the battery last the entire day, so no need to worry about battery life. Overall even for the normal price point this is great laptop I would recommend to anybody who wants an enjoyable premium productivity/gaming experience.

No USB-C charging while using the laptop
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is so close to being perfect, but they just left out a critical point, no USB-C is charging while the laptop is on, this includes while being connected to a docking station. In 2023, this is unacceptable; my previous laptop came with a 230 W power brick but would charge from any USB-C laptop supply. I have tested this laptop with a 100 W USB-C charger, and our Thunderbolt docking station and both don't charge. Not including USB-C charging is a huge design mistake IMHO. HP said this includes USB-C charging; I would not have purchased this if I knew it only supports USB charging while the laptop is turned off. Screen: The screen is bright, and I love the 16:10 ratio for productivity. The only comment is that it is very reflective with a lot of glare. Keyboard and trackpad: The keyboard is relatively nice. The only complaint is that some keys are sticky, if you press them down hard, it takes a while for them to release. This was fixed by removing these keys and removing some sticky residue I assume is from the factory underneath them. After this, the keyboard is quite nice. The trackpad is large enough and works well. Upgradeability: This is where the laptop shines. Like most older workstations, you can upgrade the ram on this laptop to 64 GB, and it has 2 NVME slots for storage. You can also replace the wireless card if you choose. Many laptops include soldered components; it's nice to see an upgradable and serviceable laptop. Performance: If you get this on sale, the performance is the best for the price. It has the latest generation mobile i9 and nVidia graphics. In short, it's a good laptop if you can get this at the sale price and don't mind not having USB-C charging. At the retail price, there are probably better options. If this laptop did have USB-C charging, I would rate it 4-5 stars; not being able to use docking stations or the 100 W USB-C chargers scattered at work is a deal breaker. I rather have a slower rate of battery depletion when using USB-C than not being able to use it at all. At this price point, it will never be the quality of a Thinkpad or Macbook and I didn't expect that, but not including USB-C charging is a huge L. I wouldn't have purchased this if I knew that.

A Frustrating Journey: HP Laptop Performance Revie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the HP laptop on September 9, 2023, with high hopes for a reliable and powerful machine at a great price of $1174.99, down from the original $1749.99. Unfortunately, what seemed like a fantastic deal turned into a nightmare, and here's why. Pros: Affordable Performance: The best part of this laptop was undoubtedly the price-to-performance ratio. At $1174.99, I got a seemingly powerful machine that initially performed well for its cost. Cons: Increasing Fan Noise: The fan noise on this laptop started as a minor annoyance and progressively became unbearable. Even under light usage, the fan would kick into high gear, disrupting any attempt at a quiet work environment. Frequent Freezing: About 8 weeks into usage(past return window), the laptop began freezing and locking up at least once a day, with no discernible cause. No new software or hardware installations were made, making the issue even more perplexing. Overheating and CPU Throttling: The laptop started running excessively hot, even under minimal load. The event viewer revealed numerous instances of CPU throttling, and the system even suffered from the dreaded BSOD with the stop code 'clock_watchdog_timeout,' a sign of potential CPU or cooling system failure. Customer Support Woes: Seeking help from HP customer support proved to be an exercise in frustration. Despite the evident hardware issues and the laptop running too hot for a thermal test, they insisted it wasn't a hardware problem. Microsoft, on the other hand, pointed fingers at a faulty CPU. "Limp Mode" Solution: HP's suggested solution was to keep the laptop in 'power saver' mode or "limp mode," severely limiting its performance potential. Why invest in a performance laptop if it's only functional when handicapped? In summary, my experience with this HP laptop has been a constant battle against overheating, fan noise, and frequent freezes. The conflicting responses from HP and Microsoft customer support have left me frustrated and without a clear resolution. I would strongly caution anyone considering this laptop, as the initial cost savings may not be worth the ongoing headaches and compromises in performance.

Very Good HP Envy Laptop (Fast and Power with i9!)
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very good HP Envy laptop with fast and powerful intel core i9 13th gen CPU. It's my first i9 core laptop. I upgrade to a new generation laptop from Best Buy every year since Thanksgiving week 2021, but I did the upgrade earlier than usual this year in October. That's solely because the impressive specs of this gaming laptop. It can be used for video editing, business computing, and gaming and entertainment demand. It has 16 GB DDR5 RAM to begin with but you can get another 32 GB DDR5 5200 Mhz RAM to replace the original pair if you want it to perform properly with max potential of i9 core processor. It also has 1 TB fast NVME SSD with speed up to 7000 mbps read and 6000 mbps write. That's really impressive for a gen 4 NVMe SSD, but you also can add another NVMe SSD into the empty secondary slot. It has been working so well in a week so far since I took it out of the manufacturer box last weekend. It's a gaming laptop so do not expect much from battery life but 3 hours or less should not be an issue while gaming. Its touch screen is pretty good and responsive. It has HDMI port so it's easy to hook it up with a larger 27-inch Full 1080p HP monitor going on sale on Best Buy for $130 at Black Friday deal now.

||Posted . Works for me but will it for you?
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased on sale for $700 off so a 13th gen i9 with 2 SO-Dimm slots and 2 nvme slots was a no brainer. The RTX 4060 was not a huge issues as my main goal was a portable Lightroom and Photoshop device. Pros -13th gen i9 for just around $1k price tage -large screen with decent peak brightness around 400 nits would have loved 500 or better -2 upgradable RAM slots for 64GB RAM upgrade -2 upgradable nvme slots -120Hz Screen 2560 x 1600 res 4k would be nice but for me on the go editing it works great I have 4k monitos in my office can plug into. Cons -16" screen now I need to get a new bag oh well -16GB of Ram I use 85% with PS open upgrading to a min of 32GB is a must, but 16GB will work for 90% of office applications. -MicroSD slot.....As a Photographer I use SD or XQD MicroSD slots are useless. Even if I had a GoPro or Drone that use it I have more MicroSD to full SD adaptors, but I have a bunch of USB-C port dongles so no biggie.
