Customers are saying

Customers are impressed with the Envy 16" laptop's performance, touch screen, and graphics capabilities, frequently citing its smooth operation and high-quality display. Many also appreciate the ample RAM and storage, along with its build quality and competitive price. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and that the laptop can be heavy and generate noticeable fan noise during intensive use. The device's tendency to heat up is also a recurring concern.

    Fantastic Laptop For the Price

This HP Envy 16 is an absolute beast of a computer for the price. A core i9-13900H, RTX4060; 16GB RAM (which I upgraded to 32GB; and is upgradable to 64GB); 1TB SSD (which I added an additional SSD in the second NVME m.2 slot); and a gorgeous screen. I highly recommend this computer to anyone looking for a solid, well-made, and snappy Windows laptop that can be used for productivity, entertainment, and gaming (MSFS2020 plays at 60fps on high/ultra). HP makes a wonderful product and I have had them for years.

The computer worked great for my wifes video editing needs, but 2 days after the warranty expired, the computer won't boot up at all. The power light is on, but nothing else is running. Very frusting.

My $750 laptop and $350 both have a better trackpad. This one stops working for no reason. Im going to return it. I see other reviews saying the same thing. I tried to play a game and it completely stops working for more than 3 seconds everytime you use the keys to move your character. Also happens during web browsing. Very dissapointing.

2nd and last HP laptop I’ll buy. First one had a failing WiFi card that was repaired 3 times under warranty and now the internal microphone went on this laptop after just 12 months

A laptop with these components in it on sale for 1,099. Well it is too good to be true. I don't know what they're doing with the hardware inside, but they are throttled big time. Don't know why, but the website won't let me upload a screenshot of the benchmark scores, but I will give you the numbers. Overall 5051 Marks (this is really bad for what's inside) Max P-Core Frequency - 4.30 GHz Max E-Core Frequency - 3.30 GHz For casual and even mid-tier users, I think it will be a great laptop, but I would never recommend it to a friend. Returning as soon as I hit, "Submit Review".

Will be returning after just buying and setting up. I noticed right out the box the trackpad works when it wants to and the setup was slow and it rebooted way more times unexpectedly than it should. After installing programs ran slow for the specs this thing comes with and one of the games I installed doesn't even load. It loads on my spare laptop fine but not on this brand spanking new high-end laptop. Also I had to manually do all the system updates, it didn't automatically prompt to do updates. I thought this was the perfect buy given the price and specs but major fail HP.

If this computer worked at any point in the month I’ve had it I’m sure I’d be able to give it a better review, but it’s been in the shop the entire time I’ve owned it. To make it worse geek squad sent it to hp for a faulty motherboard with 64gb of ram I put in after purchasing it and hp sent me back my laptop with the same bad motherboard, but took out my 64gb of ram and replaced it with 16gb of ram so not only does it still not work, but they took $250 of my own ram!

It’s the worst HP laptop that I ever purchased. It gets really hot and I received a blue screen 20 days after I purchased it.

This should get zero stars. I bought and returned two HP Envy 16 laptops. After installing additional RAM, the first unit could not be powered up - even by the Geek Squad. (No. I didn't discharge it.) After installing additional RAM in the second unit, I got the BSOD (blue screen of death) three times, I decided to return it while it was still returnable and I didn't want to have that experience after the warranty expired. Separately, the build quality was cheap, tinny aluminum.

Unfortunately screen black out in 90 days, I do not recommended to any one. We ship it to HP for repair since 01/08/2024 they did not repair it until today the escalation team apologies to us that they do not have a part right now!!!! Imagine HP are out off parts for their HP- Envy 16 laptop....overall bad Model and inconvenient customer service.

If you're on the look out for a powerful laptop that's also affordable, do yourself a favor and get this deal before it runs out of stock or promotion. I bought this laptop brand new a few weeks ago on July 11, 2023 when it was on sale for $1,099.99 before tax. This model replaced my MSI P65 8RF Creator laptop that I was using for 4 years. As soon as I got it, I opened up the back plate and installed a Crucial 32GB DDR5 5600MHz for the RAM and Samsung 990 PRO Series 2TB for the Storage. Seamless installation from start to finish and only took a few seconds to install once I had access to the slots. I could also upgrade the network card but I have no reason to for the moment. In terms of performance? Exactly what you'd expect. Everything just works. FAST. And reliably. I wouldn't recommend anything unless I bought and used the service or product itself; this one's a winner that continues to impress. No buyer's remorse here, even as I'm looking at the open-box deal for $856.99 that's supposedly in excellent condition.

A big disappointment, after only 3 months of using this computer, which apparently promised a lot due to its characteristics, it is broke... The software stopped working, it failed. I sent it to customer service to fix it and I'm waiting. However, wasting time and money, since the computer was for my work.

Beast of a machine with a known keyboard problem

    Posted .

A beast of a machine, which I got at an unbeatable price. For tasks that matter to me, I can report it's up to 15% faster than my similarly-equipped Dell XPS 9720 17-inch (2022 model.) Battery life as well as fan noise could be better. The screen is glossy and the silver keys with the white backlight are difficult to see in some situations. Sound quality through the speakers is decent, not great. Other than that, there's a known issue with the keyboard freezing and needing a restart. I can confirm that it's real as it has happened to me a few times. Do a web search for "New HP Envy keyboard randomly stops working" and you will find many people reporting this problem over at the HP Community Forum. It seems to be related to the arrow keys. Since I mostly use this laptop with an external display and a wireless keyboard and mouse, the keyboard freeze issue is not much of a problem for me at this point. On the other hand, the price vs. performance ratio is stellar. It is for this reason that I give it a 4-star rating.

Microsoft's apps would not install. The memory upgrade promised proved incompatible. Geek squad appointment to put new memory in (told as I bought it would take twenty minutes) would now take 24 hours to be done. I was lied to three times by personal at Best Buy.

Had poor performance since unboxing and then eventually just stopped working completely in under a week. Had to return to store. Can't say I personally recommend the Envy series as HP's QC clearly needs work.

No fault of BestBuy's but less than a month after purchase the computer died. Geek Squad thinks it's the motherboard and it has been shipped back to HP for repairs. Still waiting for its return, good thing my son still had his old computer to use while we wait.
