    Left hinge broke

When I purchased this laptop July of 2016 from Best Buy I wanted one with the highest specs so I would not need to upgrade it for several years. Performance wise I am satisfied, durability wise I am extremely disappointed. I never would have imagined that the laptop would begin to fall apart with-in 1 year and 11 days of purchase. It has never been abused or dropped yet I open the lid to find the left hinge is broken causing the case to split apart. I went onto HP forums and was shocked to find this is a well know and documented issue. If you doubt me, just go to the forums and do a search on HP Envy hinges. the search results will speak for themselves. I think it's a socially irresponsible for a company to ignore an obvious design flaw and which renders the laptop basically useless in a short period of time. I have reached out to HP through the forums but have had no resolution at this time for what is an obvious flaw which should have been recalled. If HP fixes the issue, I will edit this post to advise. I have read about online retailers such as Costco contacting HP and advocating on behalf of their customers with the same problems. In those situations HP fixed the problem. I hope Best buy does the same for their customers in this situation. If so, that type of customer service would generate a customer for life.

    Death at 13 months

This laptop was the first one I'd ever bought brand new. (For myself, anyway.) It was also the first one I've owned that completely DIED. It shut down randomly a couple times, then shut down forever just outside warranty. I found other owners who'd experienced the same, but HP offered no answers. Motherboard failure was suggested by other customers, but I don't know for sure. Meanwhile, the ancient Vaio it was meant to replace is still sputtering along... Worst thousand dollars ever spent!!!

    Hinge Defect Beware

I purchased 3 of these for my two teens and myself. Both mine and my son's have a broken hinge which causes the screen to split. It happened right out of the HP year warranty. You can not open or close computer and it keeps splitting. I googled this issue and it is all over the internet yet HP has not made it a recall. I have contacted HP to no avail. I am still battling this issue and replacement parts are not available for I can do repairs myself. BEWARE!!!

I bought this computer from Best Buy last August before coming over here to China to take a teaching job. I've had nothing but problems with it from the wifi adapter not working to now having no sound. I've been on chat with HP tech support numerous times, one day I was on with them for 7 hours (for some reason now I can't get that to work) and have sent numerous private messages to them via Twitter. Nothing has worked so far. I feel like I spent $1000 for a doorstop right now. NEVER AGAIN!!!!

I've had this note book for less than 2 days and it freezes while doing the set up. HP ENVY M7-U109DX notebook. I have to continually perform a hard boot to get it going again. No options for Ctr/Alt/Dlt. No access to the Task Manager. I'm praying Best buy steps up and trades it for another one. 3 days as of tomorrow. Purchased Friday, taking it back Sunday morning. Frozen up to 15 times.

Unusuable for business __DO NOT BUY

I have bought three HP computers recently, two envys one spectre. The envys are totally useless. The problem is the trackpad. It requires so much force and such precision to get anything to select or enter it is worthless for business and editing. Look, this is a gorgeous, powerful computer, but that trackpad makes it UNUSABLE for business. DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU PLAN TO USE IT FOR BUSINESS OR ANY KIND OF EDITING WITHOUT A MOUSE. DO NOT DO IT.

I bought an HP envy core i7 beats audio. The worst slowest piece of p I have ever owned in my life… Not only that, zero help from HP or best. I've spent more time trying to fix it then I have been able to use it. Steer clear!

The keyboard bounces around and erases previous things I typed so I have to be very careful typing on this or obtain another keyboard to plug in. other than that the product is okay but that one thing screws it up for everything! Don't buy it or check it out first

Beautiful and impressive laptop. Bad. Almost unused, 30 times since 2018 (currently Jan 2022) and I have to change screen, a red strip, Now doesn't start. A shame.
