Not for the money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At the ripe old age of five years, the cooling fan failed (well over $150 to replace, internal battery swelling, needs replacement for safety sake ($50) . Labor cost over $125. Avoid the HP product line if this is any indicator.

Breaks easily
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can not tell you how many times this computer has given me issues. The touchscreen, although it works well, has cracked TWICE without any proper reason. The first time it happened, I bought this big, heavy-duty case after I got it fixed to prevent it from happening again, but lo and behold not even a year later it cracked from me closing it (which wasn't even forceful). I've had to pay twice what it's worth because of its fragility. I would not recommend this computer to students that have to carry it around with them often because the frame will also bend and warp in your backpack. Unless you're not planning to take this thing with you anywhere, I would not recommend.

Great Laptop But Not a Strong Case
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this about a 1 1/2 years ago, so of course no warranty on it. But I've had HP desktops before and loved them. Still love this, but it's no longer a laptop, it's now relegated to desktop status as the hinge on the back broke. Can no longer open and close without risking it falling apart. Took it to the local repair shop and he said he could work up a quote for me to repair, but from past experience the cost would be too high to repair and I'd be better off replacing. He wasn't trying to sell me a new computer, so no conflict of interest there. I now have a laptop I can't take with me, and with a screen duct-taped to hold together :-(

Major Problem USB JUMP DRIVE PORTS
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When using my SanDISK 256gb I find that when you shut down the computer the drive stays lit and gets very hot if left in for any length of time plus drains the battery and I am worried that it could cause a fire! Plus the fact I know its a problem because HP swapped it out for me and the replacement did the same thing! So be careful remove the jump drive!

AVOID BEST BUY IF YOU BUY REPAIRABLE PRODUCTS.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AVOID BEST BUY IF YOU BUY REPAIRABLE PRODUCTS. Last year, I bought an $1100 HP laptop and had I right away problems with it. Text support sucks. Once you are connected the waiting time is easily an hour before a technician is looking at the device. Then they do their usual routine and work on it for up to 7 hours with little results. Now the laptop is in repair. They say that the repair will be up to 4 weeks.

Don't purchase HP!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our whole lives we have had computers that have lasted beyond their useful lifetimes. Instead of staying with a foreign brand we decided to be loyal to the US economy and buy an HP. We had an issue for two weeks now with the screen flashing. We put up with it for a week, and then tried to resolve it on our own. Week two we downloaded all the updates recommended from HP. Two days later we updated their recommended windows fix. Still flashing. So we paid for software support to fix their KNOWN FLASHING ISSUE. They reconfigured the entire drive - do you realize what this means? Everything is in disarray on the computer now and WE STILL HAVE THE SAME FLASHING. Now they tell us that the warranty expired 10 days ago... well we had the flashing problem then... "BUT YOU DIDN'T REPORT IT THEN". So now they want $450 to fix a problem that existed while under warranty but that they won't honor now because we took the time to trouble shoot it ourselves. So much for loyalty... don't buy HP, don't buy US and stick with what you know works.
