Not Quite What I was Hoping For

I was looking for something lightweight and powerful that would be easy to transport on a daily basis and dock at home to my full-size workstation. When comparing this 13" laptop to my boyfriend's 15" envy 360 - there are some interesting considerations. First is that the weight difference is not as significant as I thought it would be, and the screen feels a lot smaller on the 13" and is not a widescreen, which could be a plus or minus depending on what aspect ratio you are after. Using this on my bed, I realized the speakers were on the bottom of the laptop due to the reduced real estate of the smaller chassis - this effectively muffled out the sound. So if you are expecting to be able to hear anything be prepared to listen with the laptop on a hard surface only. The final nail in the coffin was when I plugged this into my HP Thunderbolt dock - I have a 34" super widescreen monitor - I have the display on my laptop set to extended viewing (both laptop screen and monitor). When I have my laptop closed there is no problem with the primary monitor, however, if I wanted to use the laptop as a secondary screen it skews the image on the 34" so it is not easily viewable. My boyfriend's 15" widescreen does not do this when docked and extended on the same workstation. So this little 13" will be going back, and I'll be on the hunt for a comparable sale priced 15" envy laptop.
