I paid less and I got what I paid for.

I set up this printer with a min. of effort. However it kept loosing the wifi connection. I had to re-enter the wifi details to get it to recognize my laptop. This happened 3 times. The next problem was the drawer for the paper. It would not close all the way. I had to stand the printer on the back and pull it out and re place it, before it would go all the way back. Every time I had to replace paper, the draw would remain open. The printer just says, "Please close the paper drawer". I have tried to open and close it a number of times. It just won't clear this message and let me print. The last time I tried The tab on the back broke off. I GIVE UP. I have up-graded my printers over the years. This is the first time I have ever had a problem like this. I think HP is trying to compete in this price range and they just can't build a really good product. I see that other people love this printer, I'm sorry but I've owned and used a number of HP products and never had a problem like this. No I didn't force the drawer, it just never worked from the start. Yes I agree, I should have returned it from the start, however I bought it because I needed it right away.

    Unreliable Connection

Although, my internet connection is great and I religiously followed the setup instructions, this printer only connects to my computer when it so pleases. Other times it simply will not connect and it suggests that I did not install the correct drivers (I did) or that my computer is offline (it isn't). It has been a real incinvinience. Do not recommend.

Have problems with this printer going offline. I then have to uninstall then reinstall the software. It's a big hassle. My older HP printer does not have this problem

    not great

This printer was nice, I was very happy to purchase it. But after a few pages of color print and when the levels start to get about halfway, the quality of the photos/text is GREATLY diminishes, pretty much useless. You'll need to completely replace the ink to get the quality back, and ink is not cheap. Will be trading it in for something else.

    Can't use wireless in dorm

i bought this printer for my daughters dorm. The problem is even though the printer and laptop are on the same network it won't print. After 45 minutes with hp support I was told because we are using the colleges public network it won't work. I asked if hp makes any printers that can be used on a public network and never really got an answer.

    Ink Hog

This printer went through an entire #63 ink cartridge printing ~50 pages of online return forms for Amazon from Android app for Samsung phone. App wouldn't let me just print page w/return label, so printed pages heavy with black ink/web info. Don't know if problem was w/HP ePrint app or printer, but there's no way I should have used an entire cartridge of ink on less than 50pp. of printing. Returning printer to buy one with better ink economy.

Good for regular printing, but not photo printing

I decided to get the HP Envy 4520 because I read the great reviews and thought that this printer would be great for printing photos. I was wrong, I tried printing ten photo and lots of streaks came out and quality was terrible. I think I will go back to Canon for photo printing!!

ALWAYS DISCONNECTS - CAN'T FINISH A PRINT JOB

    Posted .

This is the worst printer I've ever purchased. It loses connection in the middle of a print job! Also, everytime that I start to print something, I get an error message that the printer can't be found. And then I have to unplug my router, restart the printer and try again. Then it quits in the middle of printing, and I have to do it again. This is a nightmare.

    Connectivity Problems

I love HP but this printer has some software problems. I was able to easily set it up and print but as soon as the printer was idle it would disconnect from the server and the only way to reconnect it was to manually reinstall. I did that three times and then went to look for the fix and found that if people had a problem with this printer connectivity was it. I am finding a different printer.

    Will not buy another HP

Purchased January 2018. Had multiple issues with connectivity then not printing at all wasting ink cartridges thinking that maybe the black had dried up with little use. HP support helped get wireless back online but then (after 1 yr warranty expired) it stopped printing at all. Sounds like it is and shoots out the appropriate # of pages but no print. Black or color. Did all the uninstalling and reloading recommended off the support document but no luck. Stuck with new expensive ink that I cannot use or return.

    GARBAGE,CHEAP

Purchased this last night for $69.99 with extra ink. You get what you pay for. Couldn't get this to work, kept saying the the supplied ink cartridges weren't compatible and wouldn't let me go any further. Even tried replacing the ink with new , same thing. Went thru all the steps and documentation and kept getting error codes. I'm taking this junk back to the Store for a refund and I'm gonna purchase a Cannon printer. I spend 1.5 hours on this which says easy set up. The mechanicals that hold the cartridges in place are cheap and flimsy. Stay away from a bargain printer.

    Disliked more than my ex

This printer is AWFUL! It refuses to print off my MacBook. Most times Ive tried it gives me an error screen and the others it reformats entire documents to different font sizes! I would have thrown this piece of junk out except for my mom seems to have no issues with it off her very cheap no frills laptop. My last complaint is that I cannot print things on various sized paper. Not even from my moms computer. So all of the cute custom invitations and cards that I use to print myself are no more.... Have I mentioned my hate for this thing?

    Do not buy HP products

I would not use anything HP, literally, if they were giving it away for free. HP has integrated their printers with the internet to the point of really intruding on your privacy. They control your ink usage where if you don't use it often enough they'll stop you from printing and require you buy more because your current cartridge is out of date. The fact that they do this makes me question every product they offer. My advice is to stay away from everything HP. If they do this with printers, imagine what they do to computers.

    Mediocre printer didn't last long

I bought the Envy printer about one year a ago and it has died on me, I tried reinstalling it twice but it didn't help, reinstalling the driver didn't help neither. The printer simply stopped printing and there was still ink left according to the read out up front. It never was able to scan. My first hp printer lasted 15 years. Once upon a time HP sold quality products, now it sells junk. Chris Michael Hunter

Don't buy if you have xfininty

This printer does not work with xfinity router. The warranty does not work with best buy, you have to go through HP. I have been working with this issue with HP for months and their only advice is to change my entire cable and internet company because it's Xfinity's issue and not theres. Even though my printer does not work when it is hard connected. HP has awful customer service, so if you have xfininty I would look at a different brand other than HP.

    WORST. PRINTER. EVER.

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

First, the WiFi does not work... See other reviews, common problem! Second, it is noisy. The paper tray is TINY. The printer jams. When you clear the jam, your job is deleted instead of resumed. All sorts of weird error messages and issues, BUT THE WORST PART IS, GENUINE HP INK WILL BREAK YOUR PRINTER!!! If you buy this, expect to use it as an expensive door stop. A printer it most certainly IS NOT. HORRIBLE!!!

    Never Again

I am throwing this printer away. I bought it because the reviews were great and it had HP Instant Ink. The printer is always offline even right when we turn it on so every time we try to print we have to reinstall the printer. We had an older version of this printer before this that had the same issue which we though was a glitch. After this I will never purchase an HP printer again.

    The worst printer ever

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! You will waste hours downloading drivers and apps and fiddling with settings. They release a new patch every month and it never works right. Every time you go to print, a new bug appears. I created a Best Buy account just to warn you. This is a total waste of money and time.
