Like most printers, a bear to set up...and still doesn't work right. The ink deal on it marries you to HP, and they blanket you with emails. Some of the replacement ink at Best Buy doesn't work...even though it says it does.

    Best Buy on HP Payroll?

In 15 years, I have NEVER had a printer that didn't have a scanner so I didn't ask if it had one. It doesn't. Plus, like the last HP printer I had, it kicks itself offline whenever it feels like it. The Best Buy clerk assured me that was the OLD HP. What a crock. Is Best Buy on the HP payroll?

The unboxing was pretty easy, it is a compact printer which also scans and copies. The Wi-Fi connectivity is appreciated, it makes the things easy, I just have to download the HP smart app, connect to the printer and I can send any file or photo I decided to print and of course the scanner works perfectly. HP gives you the option to sign up to receive ink cartridges every time the printer is running out of ink. I can say that the practicality of this printer and how easy is to print from virtually any device using Wi-Fi, makes it a great option of you want to use it at home or you're working from home. This printer is designed to be used at home or small offices where is not needed to print a lot of copies, the above because of the time that the printer takes and the quantity of sheets that can print, other than that works flawlessly.

    Terrible Ink Usage

This printer eats up ink like crazy. Literally needs a new cartridge every 10-15 pages you print. Don't waste your money on this printer. Spend a little extra and get a better one that holds ink at a normal rate. This one will have you spending money on ink every single month.

      Hi, Ruth.

I’m sorry to learn that your printer has used ink so rapidly. It’s easy to understand why needing to install new replacement cartridges after only 10 to 15 pages would be quite a shock. I want to help you understand what’s happening with the device and remedy the problem if one exists, so I’ll offer what I hope are helpful resources and information.

First, I can’t say for certain what happened with the ink supply in your case, but some printers come with what are known as setup cartridges, which have a lower capacity than regular or XL cartridges, and less still than ones in our Instant Ink program. If you’ve gone through only the cartridges that came with the printer, this could explain what you’re seeing.

However, if you’ve installed replacement cartridges and still need new ones after only 10 to 15 prints, this doesn’t seem right. The XL cartridges designed for your printer have estimated yields of 200 to 240 pages, while the regular size cartridges are expected to produce 100 to 120 pages. How cartridges perform in your own printer varies according to numerous factors, including resolution, how dry the air is and how absorbent the paper is.

Regardless, if your results differ dramatically from the estimates above, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

I bought a giant (holds dang near 2 reams of paper and has a giant scanner bed) printer like I have at work, to work from home during our Covid induced "work from home". My wife has been unhappy with the giant eyesore printer in our den. This printer is much more pleasing to look at and is compact compared what it is replacing. As far as printing and scanning go this does a fine job. The setup was a breeze on my Android phone. After the setup I was prompted to allow other e-mail addresses to print wirelessly and sent an e-mail invitation to to the others so that they could set up the printer on their device. My wife set hers up with no help from me (which may be historic). I even set up an e-mail address that allows us to e-mail stuff to the printer to be printed. The app, if you choose HP+, besides printing and scanning has some other features like mobile faxing, scanning from your phone camera, a library of printable things, photo printing mode and private pickup. If you choose HP+ you get free ink for 6 months for the plan you choose (it's barely been a week and I have received free ink!). Choosing HP + also gets a second years warranty. My only issue with this printer is that it disconnects from my WiFi and has to be reconnected. While I'm not sure what the reason for the disconnection is but I suspect that it may be my router. My router is multiband and assigns a band when needed. I think when it assigns an upper frequency band it disconnects. I really like this printer and the app. Love the free ink and extended warranty. For the connectivity inconvenience I'm withholding a star.

This printer is a piece of junk, do not buy it. We have had problems with connecting to it to print since we bought it a month ago. Now, the printer says it has an obstruction that is preventing the ink cartridges from moving (which is not true, there is no obstruction) and we have done everything to reset the printer and nothing has worked. Now it is too late to return it and we have to get it repaired.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has performed so poorly for you. I can certainly understand why connectivity issues followed by the unexplained error message regarding the carriage that holds the ink cartridges would be quite a shock, especially considering you’ve had the device only a month. We want our customers to have a better experience that what you’ve endured, so I’ll offer a resource and some information I hope will help you remedy the situation.

I can’t tell from your review what’s causing the error message or why it won’t clear, so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:

      Hi there.

I’m sorry that you’re disappointed with your printer. I can understand why difficult usability and rapid ink use would be a frustrating combination. I want to help you learn more about the device and what’s happening with the ink, so I’ll provide some data and resources aimed at making that happen.

First, to learn more about the printer and all its features to potentially ease the difficulty of use you’ve experienced, you can find the basic user manual, how-to documents, troubleshooting guides and software updates on our support site here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/2100187510

Regarding ink use, I can’t tell from your review how many pages you’ve gotten per cartridge or how that compares with the estimated page yields. The XL size cartridge for this printer has an estimated yield of 200 to 240 pages, while the regular size is expected to product 100 to 120 pages. How cartridges perform in your own printer varies according to numerous factors, including resolution, how dry the air is and how absorbent the paper is.

      Hi there.

Thanks for the review and the description of your experience. While I’m glad that you’re pleased with your printer’s print quality from your phone, I’m sorry to hear that you’ve not been able to print from your computer and that you’ve gotten confusing information about what it would take to activate that ability. I’ll offer some information and resources that I hope will help you get your printer working to your satisfaction.

I can’t tell from your review where you learned that you’d need to spend $80 more to get the device to print from your computer, but your printer is designed to connect wirelessly to mobile phones as well as laptop, desktop and tablet computers. If you learned about the $80 charge from a person claiming to represent HP, unfortunately, support feedback of that nature is often linked to fraudulent companies or individuals.

There is no charge for standard support during your one-year warranty period, nor for software needed to make your printer connect wirelessly. Just in case, you can double-check the warranty status of your printer at: support.hp.com/checkwarranty

We know that fraudulent companies and individuals find their way to people by many means, and often they appear totally legitimate. On our support site we have a section that contains information on how to protect yourself from scams, and what to do if you’ve been the victim of one. Visit that page here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05404707

If you need help at any point getting your printer connected, we're always here for support. Please contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can guide you through the proper troubleshooting. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
