I’m sorry to learn that your printer has performed poorly for you. I can wholly understand why you’re perplexed, considering you’ve been unable to print, the device has run out of ink so early, and it has automatically ordered replacement cartridges. I want to help you out of this dilemma. I hope the information and resources below guide you to that end.
First, I can’t say for sure what has happened in your situation, but what you describe can occur when a printer is sold, returned to the seller, then sold again to a different buyer without being adequately inspected before shipment. The fact that the printer ordered replacement cartridges but you didn’t mention being enrolled in our Instant Ink program leads to my suspicion. I recommend you contact the seller to check this possibility. You can do that by scrolling to the bottom of the Best Buy website and clicking Orders & Returns.

This is very convenient considering COVID-19. We don't have to worry about them trying to find a location on campus to print.

They want to start you on a subscription service for ink and they lock you out of using non-HP ink cartridges.
