Not worth the hassle.
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had nothing but issues with this printer. From the moment I opened it up the black ink would not connect and gave me an error. After going through all the troubleshooting steps HP sent me a new printer. 6 months after the replacement is doing the same thing. Now I'm looking at buying a new printer that isn't HP.

Run away!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought in July 2020 and just over a year later, it prints only blank pages. Tried all the fixes (there's plenty of ink, drivers up to date, cartridges cleaned and aligned repeatedly) and It's just a big hunk of white plastic that's utterly useless. Oh, and HP doesn't even have a phone number. Don't buy this.

The worst printer I've ever owned.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The most expensive and also the worst printer I've ever owned! Each side of the printed page is smeared/fuzzy letters (the letters in the middle of the page are sharp.) It is EXTREMELY difficult to set up and if you're trying to connect to a new network, it's impossible. And heaven forbid you get an error. I had a paper jam and I cleared it, but the E is still flashing. I've had it with this printer. I would never recommend it to anyone.

Not worth it
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.New out of the box and after about 25 pages (text only) it's already telling me it's low on ink (and the print quality reflects it). Also, I found it annoying that you have to set up a HP account (another user name and password to forget) just to install the drivers and run their "HP Smart" app. I didn't need the wireless function at this point - just wanted to plug it in and, you know, print stuff.

||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Terrible! This printer was a big mistake. I bought it because it was cute and matched my computer, it featured easy printing etc. I had to return the first one because it never printed and was defective. Now the second one does not print on picture quality paper. It has a paper jam every other day, It always gives us issues and now we have to buy another printer after having this for only 5 months! Big waste

A Modern Printer for a Modern Time
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first impression I got from this printer is that they are trying to stand out from the rest. I know that they’ve recently refreshed their lineup so I’m unsure if other models will follow the Envy’s design but either way I’m impressed by update. The main feature of this model’s refresh is the light strip in the front. It reminds me of siri’s colorful glow. The color will change depending what action the printer is taking or what it needs. Most of the time you’ll have no idea what the color means so you’ll use the app to find out. It is a great feature nonetheless and is definitely cool looking. During setup and after connecting it to the wifi network the Smart App seemed to have froze. It was stuck on a “loading screen.” But after a hard reset of the app I was prompted to go through more setup prompts (although the wifi already connected). The setup instructions are pretty straightforward. They are mostly about promotional emails and a few other account related questions. The last step was setting up the alignment for the scanner, which was pretty easy to do as well. The paper tray is in a different spot compared to other printers. You pull from the front of printer for the paper tray when typically it’s in a different spot. You are unable to leave the app during setup or during printing (as in you can’t multitask). Unless there is some way around it that I have not found. So essentially if you need to open a separate app to edit a document but you’re in a printing queue the printer will pause until the app is open again. It will give you an error message when you come back that it was unable to print. Again, it may be my lack of understanding or a future firmware/software update that is necessary. This printer does not have a screen, only a few transparent buttons on the front of the device so most of your work will be done from the app. Of course you can use the buttons for some actions and the printer will display a color from the lightbar but it just makes more sense to use the app. Overall I like the approach HP has taken on this printer. The look has been modernized and without a doubt it makes a lot more sense to use an app for everything instead of a 1” screen.

Worst printer I've ever owned
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer worked for maybe two days before it started going offline constantly. I'm two months in and finally done putting up with 45 min of frustration followed maybe half the time by a successful print but unfortunately no longer in my return window. I can't believe HP and BestBuy sell this piece of junk.

Find a different printer and save your sanity
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Without going into the horror show that was installation of the software and attempts to set up the device, suffice it to say the product is not easy to use, is difficult to troubleshoot, and is generally a frustrating pile of components and plastic that takes up space and does nothing in return. Well, it's got a nice purple light to tell you it's consuming electricity without producing.

Wanted a printer, got a turtle instead
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quality of print is OK, but took maybe 5-6 minutes to print a page. There is no manual provided. Apparently there is a way to adjust the size of the copy, but with no manual and display window to show copier functions, it is a pure guessing game. Price was cheap and, in turn, got a cheap printer. Purchased printer because supplies of available printers was exhausted due to Covid-19.
