My dad bought this HP Envy 6055e he couldn't figure it out, it's supposed to be intuitive, where it's actually a nightmare. This thing will fight you at every turn, its set up right but seems to have its own attitude, needed to scan half way thru it has had enough, I dont know why I have not taken a sledge hammer to it, WHAT JUNK!

The scanning difficulty and overall unreliability you describe sounds like a tremendously frustrating start to ownership. I want to help you get the device working to your satisfaction, so I’ll direct you to some resources I hope will make that happen.

    Lasted 6 months

This printer only lasted about six months of very light use. I bought the extended warrantee for $89. When I brought it in for exchange, the only one available was $60 more, of which I had to pay. In addition to that I had to the extended warrantee is not transferable, so I had to purchase another plan. I probably should have bought another printer for $20 more...oh but it did have pretty lights.

    Fraud!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Did a curbside pickup on this order and when I got it home I discovered that this supposedly new printer is actually an open box item. There was no tape on the printer covers, the paper tray had paper in it, and the printer was already registered to another HP account. Spent 2 hours on the phone with HP to get the printer setup, reregistered, and online since the previous person returned it after all the initial setup was done. So I called Best Buy and asked to be charged for an open-box item, not a new item and they told me I would have to return the item and reorder it as they couldn't reduce the price. At this point I am already out 2 hours of my time, and I need a printer today, not in a week, which is what it will take before the new one arrives as there are no more in the store. This is clearly a problem with this store as this is the second time in two months that I have purchased a "new" item for curbside pickup and received an open-box item. Done shopping with Best Buy, will just order it from Amazon and wait. At least I will get a new item.

I wanted to printer for my home office and for my daughter for school. Easy, right? Plug it in, fill paper, print and go. No...had to download an app to set it up and really struggled to get it on our wireless network. And after you finally get it to print, it falls off the network again after a short while and you start all over to print something else. Its not user friendly, at all. I am fairly savvy with this sort of stuff and there are no instructions. Which actually led me to believe it was going to be really easy. As of right now, its blinking white and blue with the wireless icon blinking. No idea what to do next, no notifications, email, text. The last straw was when I went to the app on my desktop and clicked on chat for HP help...and its an automated answer...not even a real person. I asked about getting onto my network and it replied "please rephrase your question". I typed in to chat to a real person and it said "rephrase your question" again. If you really want to buy this printer, email me and I will send you this one for free.

If i could rate zero star I would.... Do not recommend, I had this printer since end of November... only 7 months of having it and it crapped the bed. Tried everything to get it to connect to wireless and it wouldn't connect. Woke up today and it will not turn on at all. I always used HP printers and now I will be switching, this isn't the first time I've had issues with HP... and it's not the last time.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer stopped working. It’s no surprise that you’re frustrated, considering you’d had the device only seven months and had dealt with connectivity issues as well. I want to help you remedy the situation, so I’ll direct you to some resources and provide information I hope will make that happen.

First, I recommend going through the steps in this troubleshooting guide for printers that do not turn on:

However, if the printer remains inert or you need further assistance with connectivity, I suggest you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. Absolutely miserable set up experience, kept bugging out, unable to finish set up locking me out of the printer. I only bought this garbage because it was the only stuff in stock, guess I know why. Buyer beware, HP claims it's simple but if you have any issues you'll be wishing you took a hammer to this thing.

    Not worth it

New out of the box and after printing about 25 pages (text only) it's already telling me it's low on ink and the print quality reflects it. I also found it annoying that you have to set up an HP "account" (another user name/password to forget) just to run their HP Smart tool. What ever happened to just plugging in your printer and, you know, being able to print?

      Hi, John.

I’m sorry that your printer has run low on ink so quickly after rendering prints of poor quality. I can certainly understand why this discovery, as well as the inconvenience you’ve experienced in setting up an HP account, would be an aggravating start to owning the device. I want to help you improve your experience as much as possible, so I’ll provide some clarifying information and some resources I hope will turn things around for you.

First, I can’t say for certain what happened with the ink supply in your case, but some printers come with what are known as setup cartridges, which have a lower capacity than regular or XL cartridges, and less yet than ones in our Instant Ink program. For example, the XL version of the cartridges designed for your printer have estimates page yields of 200 to 240 pages.

That said, the poor print quality and short lifespan of the cartridges concerns me, and I believe it deserves further investigation. I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and determine the best course of action. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents can be longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

    Terrible printer

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I got this printer to use in my apartment at grad school. The printer has terrible connectivity issues that even campus IT had issues with solving. The printer will be on and say its connected to the wifi but then still show up as offline when you try to print. Even after being set up with a USB cord to manually connect to the printer it will not connect with my laptop. My lap top is even and HP with the updated windows 10 and still nothing. The HP smart software that is supposed to be used for the printer is less than helpful when it comes to trying to actually reconnect the printer or solve any issues. Overall I would not recommend this printer as it is an absolute piece of trash. A printer from the early 2000's would work better than this garbage and that's saying something!

Terrible, terrible, TERRBILE printer!!! My old HP that was my trusty everyday printer finally died after years of daily use. I decided to purchase this one because of it's sleek design. Worst.decision.ever. I run a shop that requires frequent printing of tags, shipping labels, and other goods. This printer is constantly offline and is extremely frustrating to attempt to reconnect. The icons and blinking lights are absolutely no help what-so-ever either. I spend 30 minutes to an hour trying to reconnect this stupid thing to my network every time I need to print something. Not to mention, when it actually does work, it prints SOOOOOO slow. Glacial pace slow. Save yourself some money and frustration, and pass on this one.

      Hi, Rose.

I’m sorry to learn that your printer has gone through ink so quickly. It’s no surprise that you’re exasperated here, considering you got so few pages from replacement ink cartridges after enduring a difficult setup process. While I can’t say for sure what happened with the ink supply in your case, but the XL cartridges designed for your printer had estimated yields of 200 to 240 pages, so even if you were printing high-resolution material, you should have seen far more than 10.
