I am a tech professional and could not set this up due to terrible instructions and it requires a PASSWORD to get it connected to the app??? Nowhere does it mention a PW or how to retrieve a PW! Most stupid setup ever! Went online to search and there is a SECRET process to get printer to print PW but of course THAT DID NOT WORK!!! EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN HP! All other HP products IN PAST were great. Now this makes me leery of purchasing ANY NEW HP products.

I had my Envy7640 for over 5 years and the only reason I could no longer use it was because the software was no longer supported. The things I don’t about this model are the limited functionality/lack of buttons on the printer itself, the few sheets you can add to the tray and the huge amount of ink it uses. I can’t honestly give much positive feedback on this model other than it does connect to my Bluetooth products and makes copies. I don’t anticipate being able to justify spending so much money on ink so I’ll probably be replacing this model in the near future and putting it in the closet for emergency use.

I’m sorry that you’re generally disappointed in your printer and that it has used more ink than you anticipated. It’s easy to see why this would be a great disappointment, especially considering the good performance of your previous ENVY printer. I want to help you remedy what problems you can, so I’ll provide some information and resources aimed at making that happen.
First, I can’t tell from your review how long you’ve had the printer, how many pages you got from the cartridges, and whether those cartridges were the ones that came with the device or ones you bought from a retail source. I can’t say for certain what’s happened in your case, but some printers come with what are known as setup cartridges. These have lesser capacities than regular or XL replacement cartridges. The XL size cartridges designed for your printer have estimated yields of 200 to 240 pages, while the regular sizes have estimated yields of 100 to 120 pages. If your results are dramatically different, please see the contact information below.
Beyond that, here are some things you can consider:
- If it appears that a cartridge was low on ink to begin with, or that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, I recommend that you contact the seller who sold you the items.

- A high-density print (such as an image or graph) uses ink more quickly than a text-only document, particularly if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.

- Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer “park” so that the nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper are protected from excess drying.
