This replaces an officejet 3830 that would ONLY print color pages after CONSTANTLY reinstalling the printer.

Fast forward a couple weeks and I am now not able print anything even though my printer is on and connected to WiFi with the status “ready.” My computer keeps saying the printer is not responding. This happened at the worst time considering I need pages printed for class in the morning. I’ve been trying to get it to work for a while now. Even researched & tried turning it on then off. Nothing.

I am sorry to hear you are having difficulties after the printer had worked so well at first. Being unable to print pages for a class must be especially troublesome. Below are some suggestions to try to get the printer working as well as when you first purchased it.
First, if you haven't done so already, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various problems, including wireless connectivity and printer-offline issues. Visit that page here:

If the printer still won’t work after trying the above suggestions, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting. It would not go on or off with the power button until we connected it directly into a wall socket. I saw that in a product chat and could not understand how that could be true. Well it was!

I understand most "at home" printers aren't always reliable, but this is the worst one I've had. I've had 3 separate calls to their support department, each lasting 30mins to over an hour. They have tried to send me ink cartridges every time saying I must have received a defective one. The last time around, they admitted the printer needed to be replaced so the guy transfers me to a department that is closed without giving me a case number or anything. I will never buy an HP printer again.

We got more than just good advice the sales person Greg in the Home Theater area did an exceptional job of explaining the various speakers, their respective purposes, & what to expect from the setup. He took the time to hookup various components from different manufacturers till we found just the combination of what we were looking for. Some of the components won't arrive till this coming Sunday at the store & we are so looking forward to completing the installation. Greg went above & beyond to take care of us.

However this printer is without a doubt the worst printer I have ever used. It continues to take itself off line to the extent that we need to unplug and replug almost on a daily basis and often on a print to print basis. And HP tech support is useless. And, the HP Print Doctor is also useless. This printer is very disappointing.
