There are glitches, which are somewhat annoying, but the auto feeder works only about 50% of the time for single document loads. For multiple document loads, it works 0% of the time!!! This was NOT an open box purchase. Ordered it brand new and I'm returning it today. It's a PIECE OF JUNK!

I’m sorry to hear that the document feeder in your printer performed so poorly. The extreme frustration you express is easy to understand, considering that the feeder worked only half the time for single documents and not at all for multiple-page print jobs. You write that you intend to return the printer to the retailer. If you’ve not yet done that, I hope you’ll investigate the resources I’ve included below aimed at helping you resolve the issue.
First, I recommend you follow the steps in this guide to document feeders that fail to pick up any paper or pull through too many pages at once:

- Model number
- Serial number
- Your location
- Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies – and that warranty extends to two years with an HP+ account – so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it.
