THE GOOD ~ Relatively small ~ Fast ~ wireless THE BAD ~set up instructions ~Old USB Port THE MEH (Could go either way) ~ Noise ~ Set up ~ Print quality It's a decent printer and gets the job done. It's a tad louder than I expected, but not horrible. It's still a little quieter than my old printer. It took me forever to actually get the printer set up. It may not take some people as long to set up if they are printing from a phone or completely wireless computer. In all, it took a couple days to get it working properly. For starters, you have to go download HP software and install an app from there. This is immaterial to the review, but I hate the idea of "apps" for a computer...just another Microsoft screw-up. After downloading the app, I tried for hours to find the printer and never could. It asks if the printer has a touch screen and if not, says to plug in a usb cable. Fortunately, I had an old-school USB from 10 years ago still. Eventually, it found the printer but still would not connect or do anything. I gave up and decided to try another day. It took a while and many attempts, but suddenly, my computer (hardwired via ethernet to the internet & wifi router) recognized/found the printer. It still wouldn't print and kept saying the printer was offline, even though it was turned on. My desktop also has a built-in wifi, so I disconnected the ethernet and connected to the 5g. It still didn't find the printer. I had to connect it to the 2.4g and it finally synced up. This was beyond frustrating. I have, however, since reconnected my computer via ethernet and it now prints quickly and easily. Text files print very quickly and cleanly. There is no fuzz or bleed around the letters. Printing a photo from photoshop took longer--as expected. The print quality (on standard paper) wasn't as good as I anticipated. It is a sharp image taken with a good camera and L-series lens. The image is tack sharp in PS but a little soft on the paper. Again, I used standard paper, so some could be ink bleed and paper quality. My bigger issue was that the image prints much darker on paper than it shows on screen. At the same time, some areas were blown out. The image printed cooler, especially in brighter areas. More shaded areas of the photo printed as if under-exposed. If you are looking for a pro-grade or even high-grade image printer, I don't think this is the best one. If you are looking for something that will quickly print invoices, reports, school papers, and such this would be a good go-to. As far as scanning, it does a very good job. The ultimate question people have is: Would you recommend it to a friend? I will quote my father. "Always use the right tool for the job." This is the right tool for the job when someone isn't concerned with printing professional quality photos. It's the right tool for small businesses, students, writers and heavy text prints. For those people, for my parents and my wife's business, I would recommend it. For someone who wants to print out all those digital photos of the kids and store them in a photo album, I would probably pass and opt for something geared more for photos.

      Hi, Eva.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer’s paper-feeding system is not working properly. Your review is brief, but it’s easy to understand why resetting the device each time you need it would quickly become exasperating. I want to help you resolve this problem, so I’ll provide some resources aimed at making that happen.

First, I recommend that you follow the steps in this troubleshooting guide for printers that display an out-of-paper error and do not pick up paper:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00786157

If the problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Serial number
      - Your location

This printer is AWFUL. Ironically, I literally just trashed this printer a little over 30 days from buying it! NEVER ran good from the very 1st day out of the box. CHEAPEST printer I have ever seen put together by plastic parts. In the garbage finally where it belongs. DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER EVER!

Being a student, I needed a new printer and came across the HP - ENVY 6455e. It's a sleek looking printer, but I can see where some folks may run across some issues in attempting to set this printer up. Starting with setting up the printer, this will be done using your phone or computer. I followed a few app instructions and was up and running in no-time. The printer connected to my existing wifi with ease, and there were absolutely zero issues there. With that being said, if you are expecting an LCD screen setup directly on the printer, this is not the case. The HP - ENVY 6455e does NOT have an LCD printer. You will be able to print and scan using existing buttons on the printer. On to the biggest issue with this printer, and the reason for my rating. I'm not sure what HP is thinking, but the ink cartridges (67 ink) are not enough to get the amount of prints that I need. As a student, I do a lot of printing and do not like having to change ink cartridges very often. Plus, it can get expensive having to replace them so often. I installed the HP - ENVY 6455e last week and I am already running low on ink. Even with HP's ink service, the new cartridges have not been delivered yet. I will probably be out of ink before the new cartridges arrive, so that's a problem for me. HP needs to start using bigger ink cartridges on their printers, or better yet, ink tank systems. As for function, the printer has been performing without issues. I was able to remotely print without any issues, so that's a big plus for me. The printer is a bit loud at the beginning of prints, but that is not a problem for me. Overall, the printer functions without issues and is easy to use. If you are not so good with apps, this may not be the printer for you. The biggest flaw, in my opinion, is the use of such small ink cartridges. I really hate running out of ink so fast, which is the reason behind my rating. I am happy with the performance, but if you print frequently, this might not be the printer for you.

      Hello,

I'm very sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the output of your cartridges. This is certainly not the experience we are aiming to provide with our products so let me help you.

Please, consider these tips to improve the yield of your cartridge:
      - High density prints (such as photos, for example) usually use more ink than low-density prints (such as text, for example), especially if the type of paper absorbs more or if the environment is particularly dry.
      - Using the “draft mode” option when printing can help save ink.
      - Turn off the printer at intervals when it is not being used, it helps prevent the cartridges from drying out.
      - You could consider accessing the Instant Ink service, which sends you new cartridges when you need them, with flexible monthly plans for your needs. You can find our official Instant Ink here: www.hp.com/printers/instant-ink.html

Awful, cartridge has no longevity. Initially thought it was requiring replacement too soon. On third change since June. Monitored it, installed on Sept 17 and less than fifty total pages printed. Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer is going through so much ink. It concerns me that the cartridges you’ve received have performed so poorly. Unless you were printing mostly high-density prints, it does seem like you should have been able to print more.

Here are some things you can consider:
      - If it appears that a cartridge was low on ink to begin with, or that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you can always contact the seller who sent you the cartridge about that.
      - Contact us if the supplies are defective genuine cartridges that are not replaced by the vendor (and they are still within the “warranty ends” date on the cartridges). Reach out to us via this link: support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

Here are some facts on ink use that might help you get more prints without too much extra effort:
      - A high-density print (such as an image or graph) uses ink more quickly than a text-only document, particularly if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
      - Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help save on ink, particularly the colors.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer to 'park' so that the nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper are protected from excess drying.

A third possibility is the printer is not reading the cartridges correctly and is giving an inaccurate reading. Regardless, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting.
