Posted .Hi, Danni.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer has not connected to computer like it should, and that you’ve found the scan feature cumbersome to use. I can easily see why that would be a disillusioning combination for a new printer, so I’ll offer some information I hope will help.
First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various problems, including wireless connectivity and printer-offline issues. There you’ll also find a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common scanning and printing issues. Visit that page here:
- support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics
If the problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number
- Serial number
- Your location
- Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

4 Stars for Doing What a Printer Does
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The printer is nice and prints fine. Colors look good and clear. Printing, scanning, printing via email (remotely), etc.... all good. The printer does not come with a printer cable, which was fine with me. I was able to setup via app; which is the way you are forced to set up. Make sure phone and printer are on the same Wi-Fi network. What I hate: the printer is white. Why white. Have we gotten tired of black printers? I love the color black and love black techy things. I would never otherwise purchase a white printer. Also, sheesh... that light that emits from above the paper tray (where the paper comes out). I don't need anymore lights shining over here. Everything tech has permanents lights/LEDs somewhere. This isn't even a small light. It stretches all the way across. There should definitely be a setting somewhere to turn it off. Ink: only 2 cartridges - black and color. Yes, all the color is together in one cartridge... sooooooo….. I too joined the ink subscription program. And for some reason they sent me my ink right away..... As if it forgot the printer comes with ink. Whatever though. If I feel it is sending ink at to fast of an interval, then I will just quit the program. Overall, I think the printer is fine. It gets the job done. Just the white and the light...……………. booooo!! I would recommend it. Peace.

Don't do it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it works, this printer is fine. Problem is it goes on strike almost daily--says paper is jammed, when it is not, says it is off line, when it is not. Had to have HP reinstall software, which helped for a while, then same problem. I am not very tech savy, which may account for some. problems, but it seems to me I have to use my phone in order to tell the printer to scan to the computer. In expensive, but a headache. Also, if you do the "free" instant ink trial and cancel after the initial period, you will not be able to use the remaining ink in the cartridges, so make sure you have new ones around.

Not as user-friendly
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not as user-friendly as previous HP printers I have had. This model has done away with the little LED screen that showed you problems and gave you prompts. This one has an array of lighted buttons that are un-labeled and not at all intuitive. I have had to memorize what the different buttons and colored lights mean.

Great little printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Instantly like the HP Envy6455e printer. Didn't want to as it doesn't have a display screen. I quickly got over that as the app does everything you need and makes up for a lack of display on the printer itself. Only problem is if you don't have your phone handy...oh wait my phone is never not handy. After set up my computer instantly recognized the printer and off we go. Printing is good quality, even good enough for occasional work from home use. The instant ink program seems like a good deal to me, especially given the size of the included cartridges. My guess is you can buy XL's but this is meant to be a low volume printer. The tray only holds 100 sheets. Scanning is made easy through the app and sheet feeder. The footprint is not too bad, it is pretty compact and fits nicely on my book shelf. Noise level is what you would expect, not very noisy but not laser quiet. Overall considering function and looks, even without a display screen, it is a keeper and I would recommend.

Great printer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great printer. Set up was messy. I was using the app on my phone for setup. I got to a spot where it said to press the lighted button on the printer. The button was not lit. There was no ‘go back’ or ‘retry’ or any other options. Had to shut down the app, unplug the printer, plug it back in, go back into the app and ‘continue setup’. This happened a few times in different spots. Took forever, but I finally got to a point where I turned it all back on and got the ‘setup complete’. It’s worked fantastic ever since. I can print from my phone or computer. Color printing looks great too.

Excellent Inkjet Printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was not a breeze! Not the printer’s fault because my wifi was cutting in and out. However, please be aware that you need to have a wifi connection in order to fully install the printer, including activating HP+. Once the internet was rebooted, everything was nice and smooth. I printed a few sheets with the sample cartridge and it printed beautifully. I have used it to print on photo transfer paper and it came out great. The benefit of being HP+ compatible for the Instant Ink is amazing. It doesn’t charge you for the ink, it’s a preset charge based on how many pages you print per month. There are different subscription levels. Mine came with a free 6 month trial to HP+ and I intend to pay for the subscription once the trial is over. The only thing that might make this printer better is if there was a touch screen monitor. It’s fine without it, just would be nice. Oh, the sounds it makes and the ambient colors are really cool.

Good but not w/o issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Doesn't work at top level consistently. Sometimes sends out blank sheets of paper instead of printed copies expected, but when it's working correctly--it does a good job. Like being able to put a stack of papers to copy instead of hand feeding them one by one. Had HP 5000 series printer before and this one is much better.

Great budget all-in-one printer for home needs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This HP Envy 6455e is a compact all-in-one home printer that can print, scan, copy. Setup is seamless and pretty easy, but you do need to use the HP Smart app as there is no LCD screen on the printer. When you are setting this printer, you would need to activate HP+ (more on this below) for additional features. The printer comes with auto document feeder for fast scanning and copying as well as flatbed scanner. The paper tray can hold up to 100 sheets that also supports two-sided printing. The printer comes with two cartridges, one black and one tricolor. There is a smart control panel that will light up when needed like when you are connected to Wi-Fi or when the flatbed is open or when you are copying or scanning, etc. HP+ gives you 2 years of warranty, 6 months of genuine HP ink cartridges via HP Instant Ink, and 2 years of additional features on the HP Smart app like sending mobile faxes, smart editing, scanning, and printing from anywhere. The ink subscription starts as low as 99¢ and you can choose from several plans based on your printing needs and HP will ship you the new ink cartridges. With the HP+, you need to have your printer always connected to internet, only use original HP int cartridges, and need a credit card when enrolling. But you have the option to cancel it anytime. Overall, I recommend this if you are looking for a budget printer for all home printing needs.

Great next gen printer!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aesthetically this printer is a work of art! It has a low sleek profile to the point where it can fit on a shelf with 14” clearance and still open and be fully functional! Do not look for buttons…other than the power button on the back! The right edge of the front paper tray has embedded touch-sensitive buttons that light up depending on what function is being performed. The HP Smart application is required on a mobile device or desktop for the initial set up, and all functions are controlled by the device(s). The printer features an automatic document feeder that holds about 35 pages, but duplexing is a manual process. The printer takes a black ink cartridge and a 3-ink cartridge, but HP has an “Instant Ink” program available that is based on pages printed per month that can reduce your ink cost. The paper tray holds about 100 pages. The stated printing speed is about 10 ppm mono and 7 ppm for color. The paper also functions as a copier and fax machine.
