    Worst Printer Ever

This hunk of junk is nothing but trouble. It constantly has software problems. You'll select to print something and your computer will not recognize that the printer is even there. Or, you'll print something and the printer will print blank pages. You'll contact support and spend hours fixing the problem...which they will identify as a problem with HP and not Windows or your OS....and this cycle will repeat over 70% of the times you try to print. Absolute disaster. I'm going to go Office Space on this garbage!

Have had the printer for about ten days and if you are not printing through the day the printer goes offline, even if the wifi connection light is illuminated. I have called HP trouble shooting three times and every time the fix is to turn the power off, delete the printer and re-install the printer to get the wifi connection. They say there is no way to enable the printer to say online. I would not recommend this printer at all ,unless you are happy to continuously turn the power off and re-install the printer every time you need to do a print job.

Worst printer ever, neither Bestbuy nor HP will stand behind it. Supposedly have a credit for ink but have only replaced cartridges once before they changed to subscription and printer will no longer work until I give HP a credit card number. That’s not to mention that this “wireless” printer is almost never available over wifi, we normally have to plug into it to print.

    Unresolved Problems

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had this printer for about six months now. At first it worked perfectly, but then it started refusing to print or scan, and I would get error messages even when the printer was turned on and connected to the Internet. Lately the problem has gotten worse, so that I have to unplug the printer every time I get that error message (which is almost every time I need to print) and then plug it back in, in order for it to work. I spent several hours online with an HP technician who did his best to resolve the problem, but it is back again. I wish I had not purchased this printer.

Works beautifully at times but too often "moody," unreliable, and time consuming. Frequently goes offline even though connected to strong wifi equipment. Often delays printing for several minutes after hitting Print command. Each time you use this printer you never know what you will get. Total Tech guys have tried to help but without success. Given the price, I would not buy again.

      Hi there.

Thanks for the review and the feedback. While I’m glad you like your printer’s performance when it’s working properly, I’m sorry the device has gone offline so frequently and goes through unexplained delays. I can certainly understand why this would be frustrating. I want to help you remedy these problems. I hope the resources I’ve listed below do just that.

First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including printer-offline difficulties. You can find that page here:

For input on the lengthy delays – and if the offline issue persists – I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the best course of action. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

DANGER! DO NOT BUY THIS or any HP PRINTER

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought the printer and it stopped working one month after purchase. Spent over 12 hours, 5-6 technicians, and multiple weeks to get a replacement printer, which also arrived defective from the box. 15 hrs on the phone later got a gift card from the HP shop to buy any other printer. Bought the HP 8035e and that one ALSO did not work from the box, Jammed paper alert without having printed a single page. Therefore "DO NOT BUY ANY HP PRINTERS" Quality assurance at the factory has gone down enormously. HP does not build quality printers like they used to :-(

    Don't Do it!

Ohhh this printer. You would not believe the issues I have with this thing. Printing is not the issue the issue is my printer is NEVER online. I will walk into my home office and open the app and then the printer just decided to go offline, and with it being offline I still can magically print. HP support says to restart the router and printer after an hour responding with a robot and sadly that never works. I have never used a more diva of a printer. I literally have to uninstall the device, uninstall the app, reinstall the app, and reinstall the device manually by IP address and it still will decide to go offline anytime I really need the printer. My thought process for buying this printer was to have an all in one system. I previously had the HP 7250 series and loved it until I decided to stop working. The HP app never works every time I open it's just a blank screen for 10 minutes. Tried to get a real person to help me for support and I got an answer that my printer was not under any warranty and I might have to pay to talk to someone about an issue that is not my fault. Just save yourself and don't buy this thing.

      Hi, Hannah.

I’m sorry to hear your printer has performed so unreliably. It’s easy to understand why the need to frequently reinstall and reconnect the printer would quickly become exasperating – not to mention that you received confusing information about the warranty – so I’ll offer some resources and information I hope will help.

First, HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

If your printer is still under warranty, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

If your printer is no longer covered, you might consider posting the details of your issue on our support forums. This is an active community of seasoned experts, including some former and current HP employees, who can work with you to get your printer running as it should. The HP printer is a total loss. I am literally throwing it in the recycle bin after having spent 4 hours on line with support, getting a replacement printer because they could not get the original working, and having the replacement fail to accept the instant ink that HP supplied. Their support team is the WORST I have ever encountered. They wasted my time and money. Do not buy an HP printer.

      Hi, Jackie.

I’m sorry that you’ve run into trouble with your printer. I can wholly understand why unreliable printing as well as scanning difficulty would add up to a poor start to ownership. I want to help you resolve these problems. I hope the resources below guide you to that end.

You might also gain useful information from a guide to scanning with HP printers you’ll find on our support site. It includes instructions for various desktop and mobile operating systems as well as an FAQ section. Find that here:

    Dead on arrival

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This printer came dead on arrival -- it prints, but it has error code E5, which has to do with the scanner. It won't scan, and its indicators constantly go back to error state. Shame on you, BestBuy, for not exchanging this after 16 days from purchase. Now I have wasted an hour trying to exchange at the store and 2 hours trying to support from HP to exchange or repair it. All for a brand new printer.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry that your printer did not fully function after you set it up, and that you’ve had difficulty getting clarity on a return or exchange. No one has that in mind when they buy a new device. I want to help you out of this dilemma, so I’ll provide a resource and some information aimed at serving that end.

If you’ve not done so already, I recommend that you contact us directly so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the best course of action. HP+ printers such as yours come with exclusive concierge support. To call and reach live HP+ experts, visit the following URL and enter your HP+ serial number:

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies – and that warranty extends to two years with an HP+ account – so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. Terrible Software and Issues with HP Printers

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

We have gone through 4x different HP ENVY 6400s printers in the last 3 years. All of them have had multiple issues. They regularly disconnect and the HP Smart software is the extremely slow and cumbersome. I have an HP laptop and still have issues. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

    Worst printer ever!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This has been the worst printer I have ever used. We use both MAC and PC with it and neither works well. The connectivity is spotty. It often simply does not print or prints half a doc if it does print. I've wasted so much paper and ink. Do not buy this printer. I've been using it for nine months with nothing but problems. I replaced an older HP that worked great only to be stuck with this headache. My unqualified oppinion is that the HP Smart app is at fault. C'mon HP get it together.

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has failed to maintain a reliable wireless connection and has stopped halfway through print jobs without explanation. It’s easy to understand why these factors plus the difficult functionality you’ve had with the HP Smart App would be exasperating. I want to help you remedy this situation, so I’ll provide some resources I hope will reach that end.

First, I recommend that you follow a guide to installing and using the HP Smart App, especially the FAQ portion, which covers common questions as well as difficulties users have encountered. Choose the link to whichever document matches your operating system:
      - Windows 10: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04675142
      - Mac OS: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06188214
      - Android and iOS: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03561640

You can also visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including wireless connectivity. On the same page you’ll find a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. For your Windows-based computer, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common printing and scanning difficulties. You can find that page here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics

If any problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s going on and what can be done about it. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
