If you don't need to make many copies it is probably fine. Otherwise it is slow, and the printer cartridge wore out the first week

I ended up getting this printer because HP has eliminated other product lines. Ok value for the money ( only because I bought it on sale). It has performed well this far, but my old HP printer was able to do a bit more than this printer

First one I purchased would print and then freeze up. Power button and the touch screen became unresponsive. Took it back and exchanged it for the same model. Took it home. Plugged it in. Same problem. Returned it and got an Epson. Works great.

Spent several months with HP tech support, shoting trouble with this printer. After about 3 months and many phone calls, HP sent me a new printer. New printer works great.

Overall, this product produces great copies, scans well, and user friendly with all devices. I would highly recommend the HP Envy 7640!

I bought this printer for my elderly mother who likes to print out her photos and other things because the old school likes paper in hand. The machine is very poor. It does not stay connected and is very unreliable. I guess the one thing that HP always did so well is in the past. We just needed a good reliable color printer that could make photos for an elderly lady. This is none of those things. Too late to return it. So she goes to Rite Aid and pays to have her pics printed because the HP printer is such a pain.

Scanner works only sporadically. But worse, if it has been asleep for more than about 15 minutes, it is in a coma. Try to print and it says "printer not connected" even though power is clearly on and wireless connection to network is a go. We need to shut the printer down and restart it, then it works. It seems like there must be a simple setting issue but I can't find it. I asked the Geek Squad and they were no help-no idea. If I had five hours to waste I would go to HP Help, but it is impossible to pick up the phone and call a live person. Second HP Envision that does same thing. I will probably return.

Purchased for my wife for school, and has had a few issues staying connected to wifi, despite no other products having the same issue. Will occasionally cancel prints due to the issue, but overall it is an ok printer.

This printer does NOT make good photo prints. Every thing else on the printer does what it is supposed to do.

I bought this on sale. It works well, except the hp software sometime wants to be updated or reinstalled and that usually doesn't go well for reconnecting the printer. Instant ink seems reasonably priced.

I've had much better printers. Very disappointed in this one. Can't wait till HP puts out a NEW AND IMPROVED and EASIER printer. it will NOT take my photo paper so I can't print photo only on 8 x10 sheets :(

At times, in this first month, I have had to turn the printer off and on again to print. Yesterday at one point printing a two sided document it sounded as if every moving part was grinding against each other.

A few too many steps required to print image. I had some difficulty with the scanning process as well. Instructional steps are not very straightforward.

SLOW. JAMS UP ALL OF THE TIME. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCANNER TO ANYONE THAT NEEDS TO SCAN MORE THAN A FEW ITEMS OR IF THEY NEED IT DONE IN A HURRY.

This printer does the job but it is slow and can be a problem setting up on your multiple laptops. It's been a month and I am not confident all laptops are reliably connected to the printer.

It was easily assembled and works well. Fax seems very good. However, it goes to sleep and does not awaken without a restart. Does not seem to be good help on Web on how to fix the problem.

In less tha 5 months of occasional use, the printer no longer prints. I thought it was the ink cartridge so I replaced both. Still did not work. Very disappointed with this purchase!

I miss my last hp 6500. It was easy to use. On the envy, I am constantly searching help or the Internet for how to do something. I have 3 devices I try to print from - cell, tablet, laptop - each only works OK in a different way eg, bluetooth, usb. I have posits stuck on the envy so I can remember how each works best. Sometimes when printing a pdf or from Web, I am not able to switch to draft mode or use other features easily. Much more cheaply made than am used to. I should have spent more $ but salesperson talked me into this.

Pros: prints fast, good on ink, copy features work fine, easy to use display Cons: printer does not wake up from sleep mode, the only way to turn it back on is to unplug then plug back in. There are several hacks on the online to fix this problem but none worked for me. I am now running it connect via Ethernet to my home network which appears to have solved the sleep mode issues, but that defeats the wireless capability of this printer.

Had some problems with the first one I bought...but yet again, Thank Goodness for the Protection Plan. Got the original replaced and upgraded at the same time.
