There was no ink cartridge inside @ purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A week after purchase, color ink stopped printing and only printed black. There was something wrong with the printer or the ink cartridge I bought at the time of purchase and I was not able to get back to the store before the 30 day return.

Poor printer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does a nice job of printing but very poor at keeping an Internet connection. I have to reboot the printer every time I try to scan or print anything from our tablets. Also our iPhones seldom can see it to use AirPrint. I would not buy this again.

Went "bad" before first ink cartridges ran out
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer worked fine, while it worked, but unfortunately that didn't last very long. I got suckered in to buying HP's Instant Ink plan @ $5/month, even though we went long stretches without printing anything. Before our first ink cartridges ran out (which, according to HP, was less than 100 total copies printed) our printer "went bad" (HP's technical support terminology). It skips about every 3 or 4 lines, and solid vertical lines look like morse code. Unfortunately for us, even though, we hadn't even used our first ink cartridges, the printer itself was out of warranty, so HP told us to pound sand. This was my first HP printer & it'll be my last HP product.

Not easy to use. Complicated Prints photo crooked
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have only been able to use printer from Wi-Fi with smart phones. It will not work with a computer on Wi-Fi. It prints photos on photo paper crooked and the quality of the photos is not good. It has not been user friendly.

Disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The printer was a bit of a disappointment. I often have to shut down and restart in order for it to print via wireless router. Also, paper often jams or does not thread correctly. This has never happened to my previous Hp wireless printers.

Most Difficult
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my third Envy. I spent 3 days and over 4 hours trying to get the wireless feature to work with my computer. By day 4 I gave up and decided to call the Geek Squad. It took the tech over 2.5 hours remotely to get things to work.

Returned for another model
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This model would not calibrate not once but twice. I am very satisfied with another HP model. The print ability from your mobile devices more than meets my needs. Keep searching . . . .

HP Envy 7640 - Will be returning
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The overall construction and features of the HP Envy 7640 are attractive, however when the printer "sleeps" it goes offline and must be re-booted to print via wifi or AirPrint. Worthless. HP's site is littered with complaints for both Windows and Mac users with no reasonable solution offered after months and months of complaints. DOES ANYONE MAKE A GOOD INKJET PRINTER ANYMORE? No, really... I need some suggestions. This will be the FOURTH replacement: Canon - clogged print heads that wastes expensive ink, Epson Workforce - clogged printhead that wastes expensive ink, HP - can't figure out how to make wifi printing work. Very frustrating.

Bad Scanner, slow printer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Printer functions are not to bad but slow. I was disappointed in the max 600DPI, but the outputs meet my needs. However, the 600 dpi scan is extremely disappointing. I tried to scan a picture and just got a slurry mess!

Hard to set up Bluetooth
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm having a difficult time setting this printer. I was planning to use this printer with my iPhone and iPad. It is not responding to Bluetooth so I cannot use it as planned. It is still in the box being wasted !

Small footprint/Somewhat easy set up
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only thing keeping me from giving it 5 starts was the wireless setup. For whatever reason, it just wasn't finding the router, even after I restarted the router. Otherwise, everything else was easy. Signed up for the HP ink replacement program, which if you don't, you just like wasting money & time. I did a couple of test prints of text and pictures and have to say I am happy with the results. While at work I printed a picture using the e-print app and was pleasantly surprised to see the picture when I got home. I had several HP printers in the past and because of the ink cost, stopped buying HP and went to Canon and Epson. This printer does NOT take up a lot of space. It fits neatly in the space in my computer cabinet with room to spare. I do a lot of research before I purchase any electronic equipment. This printer had very high ratings on every site I went to. No buyers regret here.

This printer is the worse
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer is the worse HP printer I have ever bought. It constantly stops talking to my computer when I am scanning documents and unfortunately I do that quite a lot. Enough that is annoying. I finally learned a trick to get the printer scanning again without having to continually reloading the printer software. The on/off button is also in an awkward position. I have been a longtime user of HP printers. I am very disappointed in this printer.

Wont stay connected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had numerous issues getting the printer to remain online. Every time it goes "to sleep" it goes offline and I have to restart it. UGH!!!

Very disappointed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I felt I'd done sufficient research before purchasing a printer. I read reviews, compared prices, went to the store and compared products. The HP Envy 7640 has been nothing but trouble since I brought it home. It's cheaply made. It gives an error message saying "the photo tray is blocked. Please adjust the tray and try again", all the time. The printer does not come with adequate directions or support to resolve this issue. It's basically a useless printer and waste of money. Would NEVER recommend it.

don't buy it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.had issues with this printer right out of the box, printed pictures that had horisontal lines from top to bottom, after after multiple calls and over 2 hours on the phone with HP support i returned and replaced it with a brand new unit and so, problem solved!,that is till i opened the 2nd unit and it too had the exact same issues. i returned it once more this time buying a Canon MG 7720 and is all good now ;-)

Wireless is just not for me...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the second wireless printer i bought and all wireless means is that i have to get up and go in the other room to see if its working. Which obviously it wasn't.

Printing okay --- not so much for photos
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my 4th HP. If this one leaks like the last three this will be my last HP. Also had to throw away brand new ink cartridges for the old leaking HP printers.
