    Multiple problems

The computer would not turn on once it went to sleep and had to be rebooted by unplugging it. Also, gave a driver failed message every five minutes. Took it back to the store and they said they could fix it in 10 minutes. After an hour and a half said they downloaded the driver and fixed the issues. Unloaded the computer and they had failed to put the keyboard, mouse, manual and power cord back in the box. Need a 0 star option.

Bought this PC back in July, DVD drive was broken right out of the box so I couldn't install any software. Took it back and Best Buy exchanged it for me. 4 months later the DVD drive on the replacement PC has gone bad. Called HP on 12/13 to report warranty claim. After a lot of runaround and hassle, techs finally said they would ship out replacement part for overnight delivery by 12/15. As of 12/22 I still had not received replacement. After several phone calls and emails, they finally shipped it out. I received it and went to install it after Christmas only to find they either sent the wrong part or a broken part because it came with no button on it to open the drive and insert a DVD. I've now been waiting for 2 days to a response from my case manager to see what they're going to do about it now. I've been a loyal HP customer for 15 years but I'm done with after this trainwreck of an experience.

    4 hours

4 hours. That's how long it worked before freezing. I rebooted it and it worked for a little while - and then froze again. After that, when I rebooted it, the screen would come up, and I could move the mouse around the screen, but clicking on icons and buttons did nothing. Oh, and the ethernet port didn't work. But that didn't matter since I couldn't open anything anyway. It went back the next day.

Everything works as expected. What I really is that it boots up very fast.

I have wasted a whole day working with HP and Geek Squad and searching the internet trying to get my new computer to work out of the box! No Joy! Calling the 800 number for the Geek Squad was a joke. I am handicapped and now have to bring this computer back to Best Buy!

    Bad optical drive

About six months ago I bought a Hewitt Packard Envy desktop computer. It came with an optical DVD drive that would only read some of the standard DVDs from Netflix. An inexpensive external drive read them all. Hewitt Packard wanted to charge me to “fix” their drive that should have originally come with the software to read common DVDs.

    1 star is too much

Completely froze 4 times within the first week of ownership requiring a reboot. There were a couple of mentions of this particular problem when I researched prior to purchasing but thought perhaps these were isolated incidents. Returned and replaced with a Dell XPS and couldn't be happier...so far.

    1 Star Because Can't Give 0 - Hdwe Fail @ 11 weeks

My not quite 11 week old machine had an HDMI port fail. The only remedy HP could offer was to return it for warranty repair. They say I will get shipping box in 2-3 business days. Repair to take 7-9 business days once they get it. No promise on return shipping interval. Asked if they could ship a working machine so I could swap HDD's and return failed PC. Nope. I am a very, very disappointed long time HP customer.

Summary amounts to a waste of time.

The best part of this computer is the face plate. The better half of its performace seems to lie in the login page with the fancy picture. It can barely run music software and often freezes, causing you to reboot. Oh, almost forgot, GET USED TO SEEING "NO SIGNAL" ON YOUR MONITOR EVERYTIME YOU SIT DOWN TO TO USE IT. Also causing YOU TO , AHHA! REBOOT THE COMPUTER.
