    Whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE THE BAIT and enroll in the Instant Ink Program which HP pushes as soon as you bring this item home. Despite hours of time on the phone with what HP considers tech support, the printer allegedly never managed to communicate with HP. So, we never got replacement ink. Somehow though, HP was able to FREEZE the printer in its tracks and despite using new ink purchased at a store, the printer will not work at all, not even to copy documents. Meanwhile, Best Buy says it could only be returned in the first two weeks so we cannot return a completely nonfunctioning printer for which we paid over $280.00. Disgusted with Best Buy and HP.

      I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had a negative experience with Instant Ink. I can certainly understand your exasperation, especially considering you were unable to use your printer after installing cartridges you’d bought at a retailer. I want to help you understand what’s happened and remedy the problem. I hope the resources and information provided below guide you to that end.

      First, as you probably already know, Instant Ink is a printing plan in which you identify the number of pages you’d like to print each month, and replacement cartridges are shipped as needed based on usage. I’m sorry your printer did not adequately communicate its status and you did not receive the ink you needed. Unfortunately, if your printer is enrolled in Instant Ink, other cartridges will not work while that enrollment is active.

      I recommend that you contact us directly so we can help you assess what’s happening and find a solution. HP+ printers such as yours come with exclusive concierge support. To call and reach live HP+ experts, visit the following URL and enter your HP+ serial number:

    Printer works well, the HP app works well. I had a trial of HP Instant ink and used if for about 6 months but wasn’t printing often enough to justify the monthly subscription (although it was cheep). Once my subscription ended all the ink I had stored (4 cartridges) were disabled. HP actually made me throw away 4 good ink cartridges (waste of money, bad for Earth) because I canceled the subscription.
