Customers are pleased with the Envy Move's portability, large screen size, and responsive touchscreen. Many appreciate the decent battery life, allowing for mobility and extended use away from a power source. However, some users find the limited RAM and USB ports to be restrictive. The stylish design and good sound quality are also frequently praised.

    Portable with Caveats

I received the new HP Envy Move, which is a portable All-in-One Desktop computer. I will say that yes, it is portable, like most All-in-One’s are. There are a couple of features that set it apart from the other All-in-One computers. It has an internal battery with a decent battery life, therefore like a laptop you can charge it and then unplug it and take it wherever you want. It also has a keyboard with built-in mouse pad, so no need for both, if carrying it around. On the back of the computer there is a pocket to store your keyboard. It has a touch screen QHD 2K screen, this is great especially for streaming. It also has a handle with a magnetic clasp for easy portability. A couple of more positives are that it comes with Windows 11, has 8g of Ram and a 13th Gen i5 processor. I have a couple of concerns that limit it from being a great portable All-in-One. #1 the small legs for the base, yes, they tilt, but they do not seem as study as they need to be since they turn while carrying, they tilt as needed and they snap open as you set it down. I believe all this movement will make them wear out or break off, but only time will tell. #2 Small SSD, it only has a 512 SSD, It would have made more since to have a 1t NVME to make it truly portable, eventually you will either have to upgrade the size or use an external drive for storage. #3 It comes with a great screen; I am not sure if they envisioned people carrying it over to a friend’s house or just made it portable to move it around the house to different locations, but I would be worried that I would tap the screen with a corner, or a piece of furniture and it would crack. It would have been great if it came with a protective padded sleeve with a slot in the top for the handle. The last thing to me that is a downer is that it’s not mountable, there is no mounting holes on the machine. I had envisioned using this as a communication hub for my family. Mount it on the wall in the kitchen, have reminders, grocery list, appointment, and what nots, but now I do not know where to put it. Take up valuable counter space? build a wall mounted shelf? It would have been a great addition if it only was mountable.

A cool and unique product with limitations

This is certainly an interesting new product. It takes the known concept of all-in-one computers and adds portability. This is done by giving it 4 hours of battery operation when unplugged, a built-in folding handle, and feet that pop out when you set it down. To finish the portability concept, there’s a pocket on the back to hold its Bluetooth keyboard. Yes, it’s easy to move around and use wherever you wish in your home or office. Since there’s no protection for the screen, it doesn’t seem to be intended for hauling around or traveling. Physically, it’s a beautiful computer with a first-class build quality and a clean, modern appearance. There’s a 23.8” QHD touchscreen that’s bright with excellent color rendition. The B&O sound system is far above what you’d expect, and the keyboard has a good feel and a large trackpad. (I prefer a mouse, and my Logitech BT mouse paired easily.) The built-in webcam is quite good and well-featured and works nicely with Windows Hello face recognition. There are high-speed USB A and USB C ports. In addition, there’s an HDMI in port with a button next to it to switch between computer and monitor modes. For even more ease of use, there are also rocker switches on the sides for screen brightness and volume control. HP put a lot of features on the Move. However, its computing power is modest. My configuration has an Intel I5 1335-U processor and a fast 512GB M.2 SSD, but this power is hampered by only 8 GB of LPDDR5-6400MHz soldered in RAM. That’s minimal to run Windows 11, especially when it’s shared with the Intel IRIS graphics. As I type this review with only Word and my browser open, there’s less than 2 GB of available RAM. If you have the option of buying a unit with more memory, I would do so. This is a machine that’s intended for general home or light office work. For email, word processing, web surfing, and watching videos, it’s great. With onboard graphics and only 8 GB of memory, it’s obviously not intended for intense or demanding programs such as photo and video processing or high-end games. I was hoping to use the Envy Move in my kitchen as both a computer and a TV by connecting a streaming stick, but there was a problem. It streamed TV just fine, but if the stick was left connected, it was impossible to shut off. When sensing something connected to the HDMI port, it restarts from sleep mode or even when shut down. This is a new and specialized product. If you have the desire or need to move a computer around inside your home or office, it’s a great solution with a big and beautiful screen and great sound. You’ll still want to keep your laptop for easy portability from place to place and maybe more power. Even then, with the HDMI input, it can function as a second screen with a laptop. It’s up to you to decide how and if you might make use of the unique feature of the aptly named Move.

A new take on the All-In-One desktop PC

The HP - ENVY Move 23.8" Portable QHD Touch-Screen All-In-One is definitely a new take on the All-In-One desktop PC. It has some interesting features that I've not come across in other all-in-ones I've seen over the years. Most notable is the portability aspect of the device. It is definitely made to be a portable device that you can quickly and easily move from one spot to the next! Features such as the built-in carrying handle on the back, the pocket holder for the keyboard on the back, the self-retracting stand feet and the integrated battery make this device super portable. As soon as you lift the device the feet automatically retract to be flush with the device for carrying and soon as you sit the device down they automatically rotate out to standing position. Slide out the Bluetooth keyboard with track-pad built-in, turn the device on and you're ready to go. The PC arrived very well packaged in 100% recyclable cardboard which I thought was great! The device feels very well-made and has a solid feel to it. The keyboard feels solid and is heavier than I expected most likely due to the large built-in track-pad. There aren't any pop-out feet on the back of the keyboard for angling the keyboard. The chiclet style keys have a nice tactile feel to them when pressed. The track-pad is responsive and smooth with plenty of space for gestures. There isn't a mouse included with the PC. I think it would've been a nice feature to have a small matching wireless mouse that attaches to the PC for carrying for those times when a mouse is more ideal than using a track-pad. The QHD 2560 x 1440 touchscreen monitor looks very bright and crisp and works well with the 23.8" size. Windows is set to 125% and things are easy to read. There is some reflection in bright light situations but not too bad. It has plenty of brightness to overcome the reflections. It also has an ambient light sensor that will adjust the brightness to fit the ambient light in the room. The touchscreen works well and is as smooth and responsive as a tablet. The built-in 5mp camera on the top of the monitor has a hardware privacy switch which is nice. The web camera supports facial recognition for logging into the computer and you can set Windows to awake when you approach or go to sleep when you're not in front of the PC. The camera seemed to handle web conferencing fairly well. One thing that separates this PC from other all-in-one PC's is the built-in battery, so you can unplug like a laptop and run off battery power. The battery life is decent, but not phenomenal. I was able to get about 5 hrs of video playback from 100% fully charged with the system in power saving mode at the monitor at about 20% brightness which was still quote visible in an average lit room. Considering it is driving a 24" monitor I would say that is a respectable amount. The system charges from 0 to 100% in about 2.5 hrs with the included power supply. Performance wise, this system will handle day-to-day productivity tasks with ease. Windows 11 runs smooth and responsive with the 8GB of ram and 512 GB internal SSD. The 13th gen Intel Core i5 processor makes quick work of most productivity tasks. The Intel UHD graphics will handle some casual 2D and 3D gaming, but this is definitely not a system for 3D gaming. It'll handle older 3D titles fairly well with some reduced settings or games like World of Warcraft, Terraria, older Tomb Raider style games, but will not provide a good experience with any modern 3D gaming titles like Fortnite, Borderlands, etc. Sound-wise the system really puts out some nice sound. The built-in speakers are crisp and dynamic with lots of room volume-wise. I was pretty impressed with how nice the speakers sound. The system comes with software that allows you to tweak the equalizer settings and has a few presets. The system doesn't have a huge amount of ports on it. HDMI on the right side along with the power adapter port. On the left side there is a USB-C 10Gbps and one USB Type-A 10Gbps port. It would've been nice to see some SD card slots since there is plenty of room for it. Overall this will be a great PC for someone that wants a slim portable all-in-one desktop PC for running day-to-day applications with some light casual gaming abilities that also can roam around without being connected to a power adapter for several hours. The built-in feet work great, but will need a flat surface to work on. It would've been a nice addition if the back also had a fold-out stand for resting the monitor at greater angles.

A twist on mobile computing with a few flaws

The HP Envy Portable QHD Touch-Screen All-In-One computer is a really interesting and useful twist on today's computing. It's like the marriage of a laptop and a desktop all in one nicely crafted machine. Pros: - Portability is both a Pro and Con (see below for cons). You can literally charge the All-In-One up and take it anywhere you want to go. - The handle and what I refer to as "smart feet" are excellent; the the handle is comfortable and sturdy to carry the device and the feet snap out automatically when you place it on a hard surface (NOTE: the feet do NOT pop out if you place the machine on carpet!) - Performance is good - about what I expected with a Windows 11 Computer with the specs (8GB RAM, 512GB SSD). - While there is some "bloatware" on the machine when you first turn it on, it's not oppressive as I have seen with other brands of PCs running Windows. Cons: - HP really missed one key element for his concept of semi full-size computer with outstanding portability. There is no eSIM or SIM card -- so no mobile connectivity. WiFi only. This is a huge miss in my opinion as having cellular connectivity is key to mobility, especially if you are working with sensitive data (HIPAA, financials, etc.). A cellular modem would make this device outstanding - They combined keyboard/trackpad which can be snugly tucked int he pocked behind the screen leaves something to be desired. I understand why they designed it for portability, but I need a number pad. The trackpad is decent - but I am much more comfortable with a mouse and the must-have number pad. So, I have just been using a different keyboard and bluetooth mouse. - Windows 11 Home? This machine - if they are going to market it to people like me who are always on the go for work - really needs Windows 11 Pro. - Battery life is so-so. Not horrible, but it lasts a lot less time than I would have expected. So, all in all, I would recommend this for people looking for a unique way to have the mobility of a laptop with the screen of a desktop. If HP spec'd this up a bit with more RAM and cellular connectivity, five stars for sure.

    Portable all-in-one desk top

This will probably not replace your typical laptop, but it is a very handy device for moving around the house. Beautiful large, bright, color accurate, HD, touch display. 1 USB Type-A (thank you HP, I'm glad you included this), USB Type-C, and HDMI ports. Camera has a pretty decent display with a manual privacy shutter (thank you again), the mic on the hand tends to pick up on the "pop" sounds a little too much (tolerable, but it could use some work) then again I usually use a headset anyways. Speakers are amazing, as always in my experience with HP devices. Overall build is pretty solid. Feet pop in and out automatically when being lifted from or place on a surface. Handle at the top of the device secures with a magnet and is well made to last being hauled around. Pouch in the back is very convenient to hold the Bluetooth keyboard with built in track pad adding to the portability and all-in-one factor of the device. Battery is okay for what this is. It's not really meant for hauling further than your house so.... do you really need to worry about the battery? With basic web browsing usage I logged about 4 to 5 hours on medium/low brightness. Then tested how long it would last stream a movie on full brightness, which was almost 2 hours. It may have also been updating windows in the background while I was playing the video. Only two things that I would change on this device. One: I would like to see is an option for tilting the screen back a little. I've mainly been using this in my kitchen to look up recipes or stream. Using it while standing in front of it is a little awkward, but it is perfect for sitting at a desk or table. Two: Make the screen less glossy so there isn't as much glare if you decide to haul it outside on the patio. I will admit that this is a very interesting and unique device.

I have only had this for a few days, but it seems to be pretty good. The computer works well, nice graphics. The keyboard leaves a bit to be desired. It works OK, but is too much like a mini laptops, no home or end key, etc. It's touch pad seems pretty good if you are used to such, but I perfer a mouse. I added a Bluetooth mouse and it links up well. I like the option of being able to more the computer to different areas without needing to plug in. I sometimes want to show something to other family members with limited mobility and this makes that easy. I am very satisfied with this product.

Not bad for something portable - I was not exactly looking for something like this but am pleased. It is an all in one with a battery and handle to transport - well if you are wanting to carry your 24" computer around! It seems limited on power, but is good for basic office tasks.

Great computer overall, love the portability, high resolution and the specs it comes with. However, due to the amount of power this PC has, definitely don’t recommend leaving it not plugged as the battery tends to die quick which is why I gave it 4 stars. Overall great pc for the price

I'll get to the point. Theres no number key pad for the keyboard and its a touch screen but it does not have fingerprint capability for 2 factor authentication which means you always have the camera lens uncovered or the light on. The HDMI port only does input so an adapter is needed if you're going to use a second monitor. Other than that its nice.
