Posted .Hi,
I am very sorry that the setup was so difficult. I hope that if we can solve the paper feeding, you will like this better.
The paper guides have to be set very precisely, and maybe cleaning the rollers or a printer reset might help. There are several possible solutions to paper feeding problems in this online document: support.hp.com/document/c05537987
If that doesn't make it better, you can always contact us: hp.com/contactHP

Not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There’s a big black streak on everything I scan. The HP app for printing and scanning is a complete piece of crap. Why do you guys keep fixing things that aren’t broken?! I’ve gone back to using an old printer bc I hate this one so much.

Posted .Hi there.
I’m sorry to hear that your printer has rendered scans of poor quality. It’s easy to understand why the black streak you describe would be quite jarring, so I’ll offer some information and resources I hope will help.
First, I recommend you look over a troubleshooting guide to improving scan quality, including what to do if it’s a printing issue rather than a scanning issue. Find that guide here:
- support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05343887
If the problem persists, I hope you’ll contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and guide you through any applicable troubleshooting. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:
- Model number
- Serial number
- Your location
- Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)
I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

Vertical Black Line after First Page
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the printer and it works well except... Prints a vertical black line that prints on every pager after the 1st. Looked up on the internet and seems to be a common problem. Have not found a fix.

Posted .Hi, Johnny.
Thanks for the review and description of your experience so far. While I’m glad to hear that your printer works well in most ways, I’m sorry that it has left a vertical black line on every page after the first one. It’s easy to understand why that would be quite an unwelcome surprise with a new device. I want to help you remedy this situation, so I’ll direct you to a resource and some information I hope will reach that goal.
I can’t tell from your review why your printer has performed this way, so I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. Easiest To Setup Printer I have Owned
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Basically 1.Unpack it 2.Plug it in 3. Put in the Included Ink Cartridges 4 go to 123.hp.com and install the app on your computer or smartphone and follow the prompts to complete both initial setup and WiFi network setup. (Ethernet as well as a standard printer cable are options if your not wireless ready, but no cable is provided for either) Its a great deal faster than my 4 year old Kodak and relatively quiet as well. Both the photo quality on photo paper as well as maps and text printed on regular paper are of excellent quality and clarity. Easy to wirelessly print from both my iphone and laptop. Scans are fast and crisp and clear. I didn't test the fax capabilities as I have no need to fax, but I would expect equally as good performance as the rest of the printers features The app is a must if you make the error I did on the printer itself in the initial setup. I selected spanish as the language for the printer by mistake and there was no way to reset it that I could find. I had to guess what it the printer was telling me until I went thru the standard expected things that go along with a printer setup and then and only then did the app allow me to select English for the printer's language. Once that was done, the touch screen control pad on the printer updated to english and all was well.

Envy Photo 7855 uses too much ink
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This 3 in 1 prints and copies fine but uses an atrocious amount of expensive ink. Also, instructions are in tiny print on tiny screen that requires magnifying glass to read.

Posted .Hi, James.
I’m sorry to learn that your printer has used ink faster than you’d anticipated, and that you’ve encountered difficulty reading instructions on the device’s screen. I can wholly understand why you’re frustrated here. I want to help you understand what’s happening and remedy any problems that exist. I hope the resources and information below guide you to that end.
First, I can’t say for certain what happened with the ink supply in your case, but if you’re still using the cartridges that shipped with your printer, some models come with what are known as setup cartridges, which have a lower capacity than regular or XL cartridges, and less still than ones in our Instant Ink program.
The XL cartridges designed for your printer have estimated yields of 415 to 600 pages, while the regular size cartridges are expected to produce 165 to 200 pages. How cartridges perform in your own printer varies according to numerous factors, including resolution, how dry the air is and how absorbent the paper is.
Regardless, if your results differ dramatically from the estimates above, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

I've always been a fan of HP printers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a replacement for my ancient HP Photosmart 7760. I had very few issues with it over the course of it's life and used it on a regular basis. I wouldn't say we're heavy users of printers, but my wife prints monthly invoices for her customers so it gets used more than the average household. After 10+ years, it was time to move on. Setup for the new Envy 7855 was pretty painless. HP recommends using their mobile app, which seemed pointless to me. In order for the printer to be discovered, your phone has to be connected to the printer's built-in WiFi vs your home network. The app picked it up fine, but there wasn't a way (if so, not easy to find) to migrate the printer to the home network. That seemed odd to me. Connecting to the home network was easy enough to do from the printer display so the app provided little value. We're using this from MacBooks, so driver installation was painless. It picked the printer up quickly and configuration was minimal. I don't have a Windows PC on which to test, but I'd imagine it'll be straight forward. I've always avoided package software as they always seem to add extra complexity. Print quality is as you'd expect from HP - great color and clarity. We've been using it now for a couple of weeks and I haven't heard any complaints.

HP use to have quality products, not any more!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer from HP is the worse printer to date that I have purchased. This instant ink idea is just as bad. So I was trying to install this printer, printer said I don't have paper in the tray(the tray was full with paper). Then I tried to print different reports, even had to ask the geeks to help me remotely(since I purchased their services when I bought my new computer) they couldn't figure out what was wrong either. The printer said my inkers were full...BUT the black was empty. BRAND NEW...and EMPTY. While I was testing 50 sheets of paper with no ink....instant ink is charging me.

Posted .Hello there,
I'm truly sorry for all the problems the printer has been causing. We certainly build our printers with the intent of providing a reliable experience for our customers, so I can imagine how frustrating and disappointing a situation like yours can be.
First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various problems. For scanning and printing, you’ll find on this page a general-purpose tool called the HP Print and Scan Doctor. If you use Windows, the tool will help identify and guide you through solutions to a wide range of common printing and scanning issues. Visit that page here:
- support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics
Furthermore, if the issues persist, I would recommend to reach out to us for support. We'd be more than happy to work through any troubleshooting or initiate a replacement under your printer's warranty. You can reach us at: hp.com/contactHP
On a related note, I'd like to mention the fact that HP printers do also have the warranty from their purchase date, so if you find you need to use it, I hope you will. To verify the warranty, you can use the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

HP is junk anymore
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review."ALL-in-one" printer does not come with software for setting up scanner. Posted .Hi there,
I'm so sorry to hear that the printer hasn't been performing as well as it should be lately. This is far from the long-lasting reliability we intend on providing, so I'd like to see how I can help going forward.
First, I have a few suggestions for lowering ink consumption. To start, I recommend using the printer's draft mode, as this can often improve ink usage. Following that, you could also set the printer to print black and white only. If you still find you're using quite a bit, Instant Ink is another option to consider. Many customers like our available plans, as they're based on how many pages you print monthly. If your printer usage is minimal, Instant Ink also offers a subscription plan that allows you to print 15 pages a month for free! For more details, you can visit this link: HPinstantink.com
As I don't have enough information to identify the other issue you mentioned, please contact us for support. We would be more than happy to help you, so you can get in touch via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP

Poor Hardware Quality
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought and it worked for about a month. Then I kept getting "cartridge not installed properly" messages. I'd release it and re-install it and it'd give same message, but if I turn off the printer and turn it back on sometimes it'll print what is in the que. I even bought 2 more sets of ink cartridges to make sure it wasn't the cartridge and same problem. It's the cartridge housing unit that's faulty. Now I'm outside the return period so I have to lose money on this and I'm going to Staples to buy another brand. HP was good enough to send me a replacement. Hope there's isn't a second negative review I have to post.

You get what you pay for
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer is a piece of junk. It never printed properly from day one. I did all of the diagnostic tests that HP tells you to do and also was on the phone with their tech support doing what they told me to do. They felt it was a cartridge issue which they replaced and the printer continued to do the same thing (light print with lines going through it). I even placed a call into HP tech support last week, have a case number and no one has called me back. This printer is still under warranty and unusable. I will be purchasing another brand and staying away from HP.

Posted .Hey there,
While I'm glad the setup process was easy, I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing slow printing speeds. I understand that this affects the printer's reliability, so let's see how I can help resolve this.
The first thing I would recommend doing is updating your printer's firmware, as these updates often contain performance improvements and fixes for issues like the one you mentioned. You can download the most recent update from this link: support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/model/9073160

Frustrated with the lack of features
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Expected more from an "All-In-One" machine from HP. #1, it doesn't appear able to scan 2 - sided from the on-board menu, #2, it also doesn't appear to be able to scan multiple pages into a single file, also with the on-board menu. 3rd, and most frustrating, the anti virus included with my new HP Envy laptop will not permit me to access the 123HP website to download the printer app to help with these issues.
