The body of this printer is very flimsy. It only prints in black although it will copy in color. It is not made for all purpose printing as one would expect. It will not print on card stock, 4x 6 index cards or legal size paper. I returned this printer.

Bought this in August of 2019 and less than a year later it is already skipping lines when printing. Spoke to an HP support agent who talked me how to do a hard reset on the printer and it prints much better now. Also, prints super slow.

If you are looking for a very basic printer then this printer is just ok. I’ve had to return it twice because it would print out gibberish. The ink seems to go very quickly, the scanner is extremely slow. Would not recommend.

      Hey there,

I’m so sorry for the complications you’ve experienced with faded prints. This is very disappointing to hear. We hold ourselves to a much higher standard of quality, so I do regret that we missed the mark this time. To that end, I'd like to make sure this gets resolved, so let's see how I can help.

What I'd first suggest is taking the steps in this general print quality improvement guide: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05551101

Then, some recommendations for improving photo-specific quality are as follows:
      - Be sure to use HP photo paper, as its optimized for use with InkJet printers
      - Choose the 'Best Quality' option from the pop-up window when printing

If this doesn't improve the quality of your prints, please let us know so we can explore other solutions. You can reach out to us anytime via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer ran out of black ink more rapidly than you’d anticipated. I can certainly see why that would be an unwelcome surprise. I want you to understand what’s happening with the device and remedy the problem if one exists, so I’ll try to offer some helpful information and resources.

First, I can’t say for certain what happened with the ink supply in your case, but some printers come with what are known as setup cartridges, which have a lower capacity than regular or XL cartridges, and less still than ones in our Instant Ink program.

The black XL cartridges designed for your printer have estimated yields of 600 pages, while the regular size cartridges are expected to produce 200 pages. How cartridges perform in your own printer varies according to numerous factors, including resolution, how dry the air is and how absorbent the paper is.

Regardless, if you were using replacement cartridges and your results differ dramatically from the estimates above, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that you’ve had such a disappointing experience with your printer so far. It’s easy to see why different functionality than you’d expected, rapid ink use, and difficulty faxing and scanning would be cumbersome and aggravating indeed. I want to help improve your experience, so I’ll point you toward some resources aimed at meeting that goal.

For scanning and faxing, I recommend that you follow a guide to installing and using the HP Smart App, especially the FAQ portion, which covers common questions as well as difficulties users have encountered. Choose the link to whichever document matches your operating system:
      - Windows 10: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04675142
      - Mac OS: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06188214
      - Android and iOS: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03561640

To learn more about your printer and all its features, or for help solving problems, you can access user manuals, how-to documents, software updates and troubleshooting guides here:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/product/model/9073160

Here are some facts on ink use that might help you get more prints without too much extra effort:
      - A high-density print (such as an image or graph) uses ink more quickly than a text-only document, particularly if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
      - Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help save on ink, particularly the colors.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer to 'park' so that the nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper are protected from excess drying.

If any problem persists, I recommend that you reach out to us so we can help you assess the situation and work through any necessary troubleshooting with you. Get in touch via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP
