      Hi there.

I’m sorry that your printer has used ink faster than you’d anticipated. I can certainly understand why that would be an unwelcome surprise after buying a new device. I want to help you determine what’s going on the with the printer and resolve the situation, so I’ll provide some clarifying information and resources I hope will reach that end.

First, I can’t tell from your review how long you’ve had the printer, how many pages you’ve printed or how that compares with the estimated page yield of the cartridges. I can tell you that some printers come with what are known as setup cartridges, which have a lower capacity than regular or XL cartridges, and less still than ones in our Instant Ink program.

The XL cartridges designed for your printer have estimated page yields of 415 to 600 pages, while the regular size cartridges are expected to produce 165 to 200 pages. How cartridges perform in your own printer varies according to numerous factors, including usage, how dry the air is and how absorbent the paper is.

Regardless, if your results differ dramatically from the estimates, I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents can be longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

If you're like me setting up a new printer isnt exactly fun and/ or easy. Well unfortunately this printer was no exception to that. It was hard and very frustrating. I started the setup using the quick start guide unpacking the printer, connecting the power cord, and the USB cable (which was not included, but thankfully I had one from my other printer). The quick guide tells you to download the HP smart app for the set up which I did. Once powered on it automatically started the setup process with a message on my PC telling me it was setting up. This was the only part that went easily. After this I started the setup on the app. It tells you to make sure the printer is on and on the correct network which makes no sense because the setup for the Wifi had not even come up yet. So I moved back over to the printer and selected language, location, etc. Then back into the app to try to get the process started. The app found the printer, but would not connect to it. I tried several times making sure all the passwords were the same, etc. I just kept getting errors in the app so I decided to just connect to my PC via USB rather than wirelessly. The printer continued its set up printing a calibration page, installing drivers, and the HP app. This completely the initial set up. But of course I still wanted to be able to print wirelessly from my phone and laptop so I went back into the printers Wifi settings to connect manually to my network. Thankfully I was able to connect to the network after it found it in the “search for network” setup. But this was the only time it connected. Ill explain in a bit. So I decided on my phone to try the HP service plug in app to be able to print from my phone since the HP smart app wasnt connecting. I had turned the printer off and back on and from then on it would not connect to any network. I assumed since I had already successfully connected to my Wifi network previously it would just reconnect to that network. Well it didnt. I went into the printers settings and it said it was not connected. So I tried to reconnect. No matter what I tried after that it would not get passed the “searching for Wireless networks”. It would just get stuck at that setting no matter how long I waited. I tried a reboot, unplugging it, and even a full factory reset and no matter what it would not find any available networks despite there being at least 10. All my other devices have no issue finding and connecting, but just to make sure I even rebooted my router. So at this point I have no idea what to try as far as the network and wireless printing goes. I tried the help page it lists on the guide but the page doesnt exist since the printer is too new at the time of this review. And I was not able to even get chat help to attempt to fix this because there isnt a valid support page for this item yet. I tried to find other ways to get help via chat, but the page to get there makes you verify the model and serial number, and again since this printer is so new it said the info was invalid. So at this point needless to say I was very frustrated. Thankfully the printer prints great via USB though. I was amazed at how fast it printed both color and black and white pages. So its great for that. Maybe the one I have is defective. Not sure, but as of now its just a basic printer when connected via USB.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer is not working. Your review is brief, but your frustration is clear – and wholly understandable, especially considering you had the help of the retailer’s technical support. I want to help you out of this dilemma. I hope the resource and information below will guide you to that end.

      Hi, Donna.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer is using ink more rapidly than you’d anticipated. I can understand why frequent cartridge replacement would be quite an unwelcome surprise, so I’ll offer some information and resources I hope will help.

Here are some things you can consider:
      - If it appears that a cartridge was low on ink to begin with, or that the poor page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, you can always contact the seller who sent you the cartridge about that.
      - Contact us if the supplies are defective genuine cartridges that are not replaced by the vendor (and they are still within the “warranty ends” date on the cartridges). Reach out to us via this link: support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

Here are some facts on ink use that might help you get more prints without too much extra effort:
      - A high-density print (such as an image or graph) uses ink more quickly than a text-only document, particularly if the paper is highly absorbent and the environment is dry.
      - Using the draft and black only settings on your printer can help save on ink, particularly the colors.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses can result in some savings. However, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That will let the printer to 'park' so that the nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper are protected from excess drying.

If the problem persists, I recommend that you reach out to us so we can help you assess the situation and work through any necessary troubleshooting with you. Get in touch via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that you received a printer without any setup ink cartridges. I can imagine how disappointing and disconcerting this must have been, so I want to make sure that I provide information to help you make it right.

First, I can’t say for sure what happened in your situation, but what you describe can occur when a printer is sold, returned to the seller, then sold again to a different buyer without being adequately inspected before shipment. Because you expected to receive a printer with all the necessary components, I recommend you contact the seller to address this promptly. You can find the seller by scrolling to the bottom of the Best Buy website and clicking Orders & Returns.

I will also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date, so you might make use of it if you need to. To verify the warranty, you can use the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

Remember you can always contact us for support whenever you need as well. We're always here and more than happy to help you. You can reach us via your preferred method at this link: hp.com/contactHP
