    Lousy Photo Printing

Photos print out too dark, not crisp and clear like my last HP printer. I am very disappointed. Also, once in awhile the lights in front start blinking and a strange blue screen appears on the printer and it is offline.

    Great for a short time

I had gone through two of these before I gave up on it and got a different printer. When it worked, it was nice. I loved the ability to copy multiple papers at a time through the top and the printer was quite small and nice. I also really enjoyed being able to print from my mobile device as well. However, the first printer had issues with the copy leaving a large streak on every copy I made. The recommended cleaning methods did not work so I returned it. The second one was great for a few months, then the problems began. The printer would repeatedly ask to refill paper cartridge when it was full. The printer would stop printing documents part-way through even leaving half-empty pages. The ink cartridges dry out so fast and are costly. The last straw for me was I replaced the black in cartridge. After that, every document was printing to only about 2/3 of the paper in smaller text to which there was no setting to fix this to print to fit. After running the calibration test for a new ink cartridge, which went fine, everything printed out in red. The streaking for photo copies was also present on this computer, which told me that dust gets into it too easily. I returned it and will not get another HP again. I would not even recommend this to a stranger.

      Hi there,

I'm tremendously sorry to hear about these difficulties you experienced with paper feeding, ink consumption, and poor print quality. I fully understand how disappointing this has been, especially since you've given this printer a go twice now. I want to assure you that we appreciate that loyalty and never take it for granted. With that said, I regret that we didn’t provide you with the reliable experience that we had intended to.

Despite this, I do hope that in the future you'll allow us another opportunity to stand by the quality that we pride ourselves on. We'd be grateful for a chance to make things right and again, my sincerest apologies.

      Take care,

Machine Okay - HP is Horrible

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Just so you know, the setup on this machine (which in only a few jobs-worth of experience seems okay) requires a VERY irritating setup process requiring, unless you figure out some non-obvious work-arounds, your credit card number for the instant ink program you may not actually want just to get to the software download you probably do want. Use at your own risk (of aggravation). HP, if you want to *offer* me a chance to get in this program, fine. But do not *force* your customers to comply. Will be going a different direction next time.

    Beware of technical problems

    Posted .

Have had this printer for awhile. Had problems from the get go with HP Printer ink program; kept getting ink and I had not used what I already had. While talking to the technician about this problem, she was getting different 'messages' from what I was reading to her from the printer screen. She made adjustments for the ink. Then starting having flukes giving me messages of all sorts. Took it back to Best Buy, but they said I did not pay for extended warranty. I bought two devices and ask the sales clerk for coverage on both products, but I only got the one device covered. it was some kind of special on the warranty contracts that is the reason I got it. The printer does not make good colored photos; they are all too orange. HP agreed it should not be like that, but had no resolution for the problem. Ended up keeping it for black and white copies for my genealogy records until a few months ago. Now it will print one or two items and then stop to tell me to clear a paper jam or check the paper installation. There is never a paper jam!!! Used flashlight and magnifier looking for any bit of paper (so have 3 other people). I turned off the copier. Turn it back on a few days later and the paper jam message is gone; it will print one to two copies and gives me jam message again. Had an older model for several years and had to recycle it, because a kitten chewed thru the adapter cord could not find a replacement even on secondary market! It made great copies and decent color copies. Probably, would still be using it!

      Hi there.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has caused you such inconvenience. It’s no surprise that you seem exasperated, considering you dealt with Instant Ink problems followed by print quality and paper jam issues, not to mention the disagreement with the retailer. I want to help you improve the printer’s performance, so I’ll direct you to some resources I hope will achieve that goal.

Regarding paper jam messages, as you’ve discovered, sometimes these can be real or false, meaning the printer might report an error when there is no jammed paper. I recommend referencing the steps in this document to troubleshoot real as well as false paper jams:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05556825

You might also find it useful to follow the steps listed in this guide to improving print quality, including faded or streaked prints, color or black ink not printing properly or at all, and blurred or fuzzy text:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05541385

If you need further support, there are options. HP printers have a one-year warranty from the purchase date that covers basic support as well as hardware and supplies. You can verify the warranty using the following link:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

If your printer is still covered, you can contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution.

If your printer is no longer covered, you might consider posting the details of your issue on our support forums. This is an active community of seasoned experts, including some former and current HP employees, who can work with you to get your printer running as it should. hp 7855 prints to slow pausing in the middle of a print job prompting to dry ink. in this day and time this is too slow. i like the usb feature the selling point for me. overall i had trouble connecting to the printer with an agressive hp app designed to aggressively ask for wifi direct which is not the way i want to connect. i want my privacy in this day in time and usb connectivity is not on my side even though it has usb capability. the hp 7855 dose not list on the actual printer itself that it can print, scan, copy, usb, & fax. only hp envy photo 7855.

    Think twice

Printer is nice enough. Is supposed to scan/fax/copy print. I have had it about 2.5 weeks ordered ink twice. the paper tray only holds about 30 sheets. My old printer had two trays and held around 75 sheet. I determined I do no use both trays so settled for this one. Have not tried the fax however the scanner will only send one page. I tried to scan a 5 page document and received only the 1st page. Very disappointed.

    Worst printer I've ever owned

This printer has been a problem since day one. I think I have successfully printed from it only a few times. Streaks, constantly change cartridges to try to fix, paper won't pick up out of drawer, grinding noises. It is all around a terrible product. Mine must have been a lemon.

      Hi, Mary.

I’m sorry that you’ve had such a dreadful time with your printer. I can wholly understand why poor print quality, frequent ink-cartridge changes, a faulty feeder and grinding noises would be an alarming combination. I want to help you out of this dilemma, so I’ll provide some resources that I hope will lead you there.

I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the best course of action. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link:

Nice feature set, a networking pain

My home network in nothing unusual or complicated and my Epson printers preform flawlessly. However, this HP printers display gives me a blue screen and all the status indicators flash after a few minutes of being online, either connected to my router or WiFi. I found an article explaining it may need a static IP, which I did and that worked for a while, then the connectivity issues returned. HP has been of no help.

    Photo printer my foot

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I thought it was just my imagination, but I got to sit and try to print pictures again. This printer is supposed to print quality photos. No, no it doesn't. You have to constantly adjust the amount of dry time, I still haven't figured out how. All the pictures that do print, smear. No amount of dry time is enough. Also, the options for print size are limited and in the end of no use. I tried repeatedly to print 4x6 on 4x6 photo paper only to have the printer send it to be printed on 8x10 paper. So not only does it waste ink , it also wastes photo paper. Neither being cheap to buy. I tried getting help on the HP support and only was able to connect to a virtual assistant who can't give anything but 3 generic answers that have nothing to do with the problem I have with the printer. If you want a great scanner and something that prints random papers, you are fine. If you want a printer that gives you a great photo program and good quality photo prints, this is not it. Wish I had realized it sooner so that I can return it and get something better.

This printer was promising when I purchased it, but it has consistently failed to be of any use. I've owned it for 10 months now and have yet to get it to print a piece of paper in under an hour. There's always some connectivity issue, ink issue, paper tray issue, etc. It is simply cheaper, faster, and easier to take a USB drive down to Staples to print at this point. When I need something important printed in a hurry, there's simply no way I can rely on this printer.
