Never Again.
Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've owned a lot of different computers in my day, and through my job have worked with many many more. This, by far, is the worst laptop I have ever had the displeasure of using. I got it just to use casually, as I have a custom built PC for work and gaming. My expectations were crazy low, basically if it could run chrome and function reliably, I was all set, and it couldn't do that. Sure, it runs chrome and even adobe programs, though it really chugs along so, unless it's something quick like cropping something or writing over an image, I don't even bother using any adobe programs on it. The problem, I think, lies in the 2 in 1 aspect. My keyboard will randomly disconnect. I don't mean occasionally or once in a blue moon... it does it at least 3 or 4 times a day. The only way to fix it is a hard reset through the touch screen, and sometimes it takes 2 or 3 resets to get the keyboard reconnected. If you pick up the laptop while open, the screen just flips backwards, even if you're gentle. The tablet and auto rotate features were cool, until the autorotate stopped functioning, with no way to fix it (trust me, I tried everything, and per google this is a common problem). The computer will randomly heat up to the point of almost burning me when I'm doing next to nothing on it (maybe watching a youtube video with only one tab open) and then basically shuts itself down due to over heating? I don't use this computer for ANYTHING that would cause a spontaneous overheating and shutdown. All I use on it is Chrome, and every once in awhile will open photoshop for 2 minutes. it CONSTANTLY needs updates, and just is overall a bad machine. It's currently sitting next to me as I type this on my PC, refusing to turn on for no apparent reason. I was just using it and closed it to go to my office, sat down, opened it up to resume the video I was watching, and nothing. completely unresponsive. I've had it less than a year and am already writing a new laptop into my budget.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great college laptop. I bought this laptop in 2019 in my freshman year of college and I am in my last year and this laptop still runs smoothly and more efficient than many other laptops.

Didn’t last 90 days before having to get serviced!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this computer for my daughter on Black Friday. Already had to take it to Geek Squad and they are having to send it off to fix camera!!! Not even 90 days since she started using it and we are having to get it fixed. So now she will be without her computer. She is a college student and HAS to have her computer!!! That is why I bought her a new computer so she would have something “Dependable”!! So frustrated!! Spent extra for warranty and everything.

Great computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have owned this computer for three weeks. It was easy to set up, loads sites quickly, and I have been able to stream sports on it with no problems. For our needs (we are not gamers) this has been perfect.

Do not buy convertible laptops, can not repair
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hp has a known issue with the hinges breaking and then it is too expensive to repair. Thought Total Tech would help but it only offered me 20% off of the quote ($85) not repairs (350 plus). What a joke. Repair shop wouldn’t even touch it. Not dropped, not misused. So upset.

sucky and loud/noisy???
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.so i bought this laptop for school (since the online) and well I'm 16 so I also for the price thought I was going to be able to do gaming and just some more extras other than doing school work. Pretty much to wrap it up you CANNOT have it on any cloth or anything warm because the fan gets super loud and the laptop pretty much burns which sucks cause I'm usually on class calls in my bed. You can still play games but they're all sorta laggy ://. Ive had wayyy too many problems with the fan/motherboard for the price imo. every so often my laptop just makes a reoccurring shuttering noise like every 2 minutes. Also there have been times where the laptop just is pretty much screaming at me like super loud. overall it started great and just gets worse over the course of 4 months. don't really recommend unless you're barely going to be using the laptop.

Average computer
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My daughter loved this computer. Unfortunately, she only had it 4 months before the screen cracked on her-right before finals. It is a metal frame on outside with cheap plastic on inside that when bumped, shatters. So beware of this issue. Also, was told it was unfixable as this HP doesn't have a replacement for screen. Didn't take out the warranty as sure didn't expect this to happen. Very disappointed.

Disappointed.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got the smaller version initially. Had high hopes from all the positive reviews, but its nothing like my macbook. Problems arised a few days to a week after i received the laptop. Youtube videos randomly paused and were a green color. My fps dropped so low whenever i was gaming it was like my laptop was lagging. I brought it back to best buy countless times, but the problems were never fixed. The laptop was kept updated, didnt spill anything on it, didnt drop it. Best buy offered an exchange so i got this version. Still had problems- videos pausing, if mouse is on a different tab it randomly clicks and switches tabs. Mouse skips, videos play when my laptop is closed sometimes for some reason. Sooo many updates. The sticky things on the bottom of the laptop fell off after a week or so and now my laptops sliding all over the place. Battery randomly stopped charging once so i had to ship the laptop to geek squad for 2 weeks to get it repaired. These are just the ones off the top of my head. Not sure if i got a defect twice or my apartment is haunted. Really tried to like it and dealt with all this for several months but ultimately deciding to get rid of the thing.

Same power-on problem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the same power on not working but working sometimes problem another buyer of this machine notes. Often the power button would need to be pressed several dozen to hundreds of times before the machine woke up. There is also a report of the same power-on not working currently on the 14" model, so it is apparently a problem endemic to at least this line of products. The power on not working problem is apparently a well-known and common problem. There are litereally hundreds of similar problem reports on the HP support website. However, when you work with an HP tech support person they deny having ever heard of the problem or having a solution. Tech support will immediately drop remote access software on your machine. After they do, they find no problem they are able to fix. I suspect that the 'tech support' system is just a racket; out of India no less. Personally, I will void the HP Envy series until this problem is addressed.

Spend the money on what you want.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awful computer, never had any issues with my MacBook Pro before. The hardware on this is terrible. The fan goes constantly and when I’m on zoom my audio cuts out and there’s a ticking noise coming from the computer.

Look elsewhere
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Better off getting a different laptop. I’m sad I wasted money on this because I have only had it for a short period of time and it is already having overheating issues with the fan. HP is really no help with those things. Go with a different provider.
