Worst computer I have ever owned! Ever!

Bought this garbage, so-called "computer" in May. At first, computer worked as well as any non-Apple possibly could. Now, just a mere 4 months later the drives make a horrendous whirring sound so loud I can barely hear my TV. Non-stop! Absolutely awful! Computer moves at the speed of a 1980's PC. I knew I should never have left Apple-even as expense as Apple is. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I will follow up this review to report is HP replaces this hunk of useless metal, but I highly doubt it. Most likely, I will have to wait half a year for them to "replace" malfunctioning parts. UNREAL! Get your stuff together HP this is inexcusable.

    UPSET!!!

I'm writing a review exactly a little over 3 years after buying this computer. I really did love this computer but it let me down. This was my first ever lap top and bought it in September 2019. I hardly used it in the beginning---just really bought it just to have a lap top, little did I know that the pandemic was gonna hit and that I would be using it for work on the daily. All was well with the computer until March of 2021 (just shy of 2 years of having the computer), when it shut down on me and would not work. Took it back to best buy where they wound up replacing the hard drive. Since I had a warranty--all was ok. It is now 2022, where I have had this computer for now just a little over 3 years and it started freezing up on me. Took it to Best Buy where they tried everything they could in the store to get it working again and nothing has worked. They have told me they think it is the motherboard & it would cost me about $500 to get a new one and that it might be better to get a new lap top. If I kept a bunch of stuff on my computer, I could see how maybe the computer would of been bogged down and could of made it go bad but my work is thru a system where I don't have to save things in my files on my computer. I didn't have a bunch of programs on it, didn't really have anything too much on it and now the motherboard is gone. I don't know how long motherboards should last but the computer was not that old. I'm out over $700 and no computer. It is just very frustrating and I have no clue if HP Computers only last about 3 years or what the life expectancy a computer should have, but to me it should be atleast more than just 3 years!!!

    Do not Buy

I have owned this computer since July 2019 and it has done nothing but give me problems from the start. It runs extremely hot, shuts down randomly and has problems powering up. After spending an hour with HP tech support, the BIOS was updated for the fourth time. Now the computer still has issues powering up along with problems connecting to the network and the mouse pad freezes and functions erratically. I bought this laptop for my daughter to use at college and she will not use it because it is so unreliable. Instead she uses a 10 year old laptop which has not given her any problems. This computer was a waste of money.

    Too touchy

I really don't like it. The keyboard is far too touchy. If I just rest my hands on the bottom, I'll lose what I've typed, or the screen starts scrolling, or a different window opens. It scrolls too easily or won't scroll. The screen will enlarge with one stroke but won't go back down that way. It's a pain! Far too many touch spots. BTW, it says my screen is locked. Ha. No this isn't my first laptop. I actually went through college online for professional writing so I had to do create presentations, newsletters, overhead projection projects, even coding. I had Toshibas. They no longer make laptops so I have this. Prolly not again. It's too bad because it offers a lot but is wanky as far as I'm concerned.

    Gaming laptop only

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this yesterday and it has a very dark screen. Brightness is at 100%. HP Forum has many other complaints about this same issue. Problem is that this laptop in my opinion is made exclusively for gaming and movies. Colors of photos and sites you normally visit are off colored. It has all the bells and whistles and is very fast but this is not a laptop you buy for everyday use. Only buy this if you want gaming. I'm giving it away to a kid and buying something else. The Best Buy sales rep in passing mentioned this is a gaming laptop but did not elaborate or I would never have bought it.

Feet will fall off, No driver support.

Do not recommend this laptop. Having owned it for quite awhile now the feet have fallen off twice - once after shipping it back, once after having them send me a kit. When the year warranty is up I can look forward to having a footless laptop. On top of that HP has provided no driver support. Since this laptop and the prior model launched they have not released an updated driver package. AMD has added many nice, software based features and you will have access to none of them. I had to change firefox to software rendering to fix an issue that has been solved since august. If this matters to you, buy a Dell or a Lenovo 2in1.

    Poor Performance

I bought his unit on Wed 29 Jan, today Fri 30 Jan and the laptop blue screens or crashes almost hourly. Warning saying different scripts fail, restarts result in black screen. The finger print reader worked for a day and no longer works. On first bootup it went to tablet mode, after about 3 crashes it only opens in laptop mode now saying that there are multiple monitors and cannot operate in tablet mode anymore. Def not worth $675USD

Hinge failed causing shattering of screen

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased a loaded HP x360 Envy less than 3 years ago for over $800. It's never been dropped or abused. Wonderful laptop until ... yesterday I went to close the laptop and the left hinge failed and immediately shattered the entire lower left corner of the screen. The laptop still sorta works, but the Touchscreen is toast and I can no longer adjust the screen position. Based on google searches, it appears this failure is not uncommon. And if out of warranty, HP offers no help (I know, shocking). In fact, when you call HP support the message says they are not taking calls at this time and they abruptly disconnect. So folks, you've been warned. Purchase at you own risk. Oh, I should also mention my HP 8620 printer, which I purchased about 3 years ago as well, just died with a printhead failure. Printhead replacement cost is more than I originally paid for the printer! Bravo HP, bravo. Needless to say, any computer related purchases I make in the future will NOT have an HP badge.

Purchased Laptop Twice, Still poor expereince

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This laptop was recommended by a Best Buy employee because there was an open box model available for $300 less than the retail price. I bought that laptop and should've known the mistake I was making. Graphics drivers were buggy as it caused the laptop to change aspect ratio automatically, and would keep the laptop running warm even when laptop was shut and not being used. Speakers would also make a popping noise before the right channel speaker would go out. We returned the laptop because it was still within our 14-Day return window. Paid the extra $300 for a brand new model. I've only had the laptop for about 9 months now, and at about 5-6 months of owning it, the right hinge started to become loose and crooked. It wasn't much of a problem them so I didn't mind it. Now, 8-9 months of having this laptop, the fan will be running quietly but I can hear a small electrical buzzing noise coming from the fan, the graphics driver is acting up again, and now the hinge is starting to make noise when I open and close the laptop. And when the laptop is shut, the screen is misaligned slightly with the bottom of the laptop due to the broken hinge. Even though my 14-Day return window is obviously gone, I will see what I can do to return or repair this laptop at Best Buy. This is unacceptable for this high quality of laptop at this high of a price.

    Has audio driver issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This machine's audio driver is not compatible with windows, when windows update runs it overtires the audio driver and the mic stop working. I have to call HP support to rollback the driver, again the same issue repeated when the windows update runs next time. So I am forced to stop automatic windows update. This is marked as a security issue but no other choice to live with. Bestbuy is not allowing me to update a review so have to create another account to let the world know the truth.

I don’t like it. This black color is so ugly. This laptop feels cheap. The keys are HUGE. I don’t need huge keys like this. I am returning this. If you can barely see this laptop is for you. I have good vision and I feel offended. I want a silver laptop. This black is ugly. I don’t know why there are two numbers on this laptop. The keyboard is weird. I can’t even use it. Not easy to use this keyboard. This laptop is large and HEAVY.

    Touchpad is TERRIBLE

Good looking laptop, seems fast, but the touchpad is awful. It "wobbles" too much so as you move your cursor, it makes a sound. It gets so annoying to hear the the noise of wobbly touchpad as you surf the internet etc. It is pretty responsive though, so that's good. I just couldn't deal with it so I exchanged it for another laptop.
