Out of the box, this laptop is easy to master. I love the very sharp images and color. It is definitely fast enough for my day-to-day usage. AMD Radeon/Ryzen is different. I haven't successfully got the first update for AMD Radeon at this point. I keep trying. The laptop isn't the lightweight you may think. So far as weight of the unit, it's rather compact but still feels solid. THE BEST EVER: I love the touch screen and tablet mode. That has spoiled me. WORST: no CD/DVD, I had to buy an external CD/DVD drive. Then, the software I would use to access DVDs, doesn't play them. I haven't explored the cost to upgrade to be able to do that. It's software that came with the LG player I purchased. I can access backups & possibly music. Obviously I don't do digital streaming. Another victory was installing the companion HP Envy 5055 printer. So easy. So far, easy to use, responsive laptop. I enjoy using it & very happy I bought the HP Envy.

I've had this laptop for about a months now because my old one was awful and I needed something better for school. I love the touch screen, the battery, how light weight, sleek, customizable, quick, and the webcam on it. I give it a full 10/10

After doing some research, I bought this to be a desktop replacement for my outgoing Samsung Notebook 9 Pro. It had all the functionality I wanted; 2 in 1, large screen, decent powered CPU, large RAM/SSD. The last two, RAM is upgradeable (2 slots up to 32gb) and SSD (Nvme replaceable). It sounded like the perfect machine on paper. The AMD Ryzen 5 with Radeon 4500U GPU was plenty fast compared to the Intel version (i5 counterpart with Iris Plus Graphics). The Ryzen in some synthetic benchmarks was able to beat out the Intel i7 10th Gen. And the 4500U has plenty of power for graphics to keep up with the Iris Plus Graphics and beat it in certain tests. I wanted so badly to like this laptop because it had everything I was looking for at a fraction of the cost of an HP Spectre X360 15". After using it for a few days, I could not get over certain downfalls. The main one is the resolution. I have a 49" Samsung ultra-wide monitor that supports 3840x1080. After contacting HP support, updating drivers, and multiple different tests to display the proper resolution, I could not get the monitor to display the proper aspect ratio. There would be a large dark bar on top and bottom of the monitor. I had to return it, but here's the breakdown of the pros and cons if you plan to buy this laptop: Pro: - Performance to Cost (comparable to low Intel i7 10th Gen at half the cost) - RAM upgradable with 2 slots for dual-channel DDR3200 - Drive upgradable with removable NVMe - Screen 15.6 is bright and clear (minus the color gamet is slightly off) - The speakers are nice and loud. The mids and lows seem good and not tinny. The highs are a bit muddled but decent for a laptop. Con: - The resolution does not support an external display of 3840x1080. The Radeon 4500U is way too new (at the time of review) for it to display the proper ratio. I tried AMD 2020 driver and still did fix the issue. - The fans on the laptop spool up pretty loudly when taxed with lots of tasks to process. - Build quality is noticeably inferior compared to high-end Spectre model. But with this laptop at 1/2 the cost of the Spectre line, this is acceptable and rather decent. Final thoughts, if you're looking for a great bang for the buck laptop that will handle the majority of your tasks and won't break the bank, this should be at the top of the list. The only drawbacks are that it is too new that certain issues like graphic resolution do not work properly when using an external monitor. If you use it as a regular laptop with a stand widescreen monitor, then you will be fine. AMD is improving with software/driver support, but still, a bit delayed compared to Intel.

The design of the laptop is beautiful! The most useful feature of the laptop is the light up keyboard. I’m working from home now more than ever, and this laptop has been a great tool. The battery life is great, and I enjoy the tablet mode. A great purchase.

My wife has the same model but from last year and with the i5. I liked it but I was waiting for the AMD ryzen 4500u to come out cause it can handle a little gaming better that the intel. This model is great its quieter than my wifes and its actaully very quiet overall even when gaming. The sound is really good the backlit keyboard is nice to the touch and the screen is pretty. The ONLY con i can see at all is the glossy screen can be reflective. Im not going to take away any stars for this as that is the way any glossy screen is and colors and picture are nice. I absolutely do recommend this laptop and even over the i5 model save the money and get better graphics.

The best laptop I've ever owned. A quality made HP product, indeed! Boots up so fast; all the apps run flawlessly and at top speed. Am able to get my self-publishing accomplished using MS Office, with every program and app working seamlessly. The full HD screen and AMD software delivers images and video at a truly impressive resolution; exactly what I was looking to gain with a hi-res laptop. I certainly found it here. To add, the sale price was incredible and the BestBuy rep was able to answer every question I had, and more, without any pressure. He understood both: what I was looking for and the HP laptop that would provide it. Many thanks!

I purchased this laptop on sale at BB for the following reasons that also coincide with its biggest pluses: *can pair Bluetooth devices like a mouse or headphone *touchscreen *backlit keyboard, including a numeric keypad *can charge the laptop using the USB-C port *expandable RAM *expandable solid state hard drive *fingerprint reader Thus far, I really appreciate the backlit keyboard. I use it to surf the next and to take pics off of my iPhone and place onto a portable hard drive. I like the fingerprint reader, although it stopped working. I googled the solution and I just had to restore the fingerprint reader driver to a point in the past and that corrected the issue. Wait for a sale on this laptop at BB before you purchase it.

I use it for work and it’s consistently fast from close to open, ssd really makes the difference. Good battery life if you’re aware of your power consumption. The flip option has been very reliable, does well with being a touch screen.

10000/10. I am starting college this fall and we are required to have our own laptop, I was viewing this baby for a couple weeks and snagged it $200 off last month! Needless to say, HP is far superior than Macbooks. Keep looking around and comparing specs, I definitely would've loved more space but my major isn't super heavy so this was the perfect laptop. Light-medium gaming also great. I loved this sleek black color. Honestly this may be one of the best laptops for it's price, but if you're needing something a little something more, look into HP Spectre. I am very satisfied with my purchase. I also ordered my laptop on a Friday afternoon and received it the Saturday morning right after! Best Buy really shoots for the best service :)

I love this laptop! I bought a lenovo flex 5 with the same processor and it was $100 cheaper. Little did I know, they have a huge design flaw that causes the screens to lose power, so I returned it and settled on this laptop. I mainly use it for college, but I also do some gaming, and this laptop is an amazing performer. It is light for a 15", has the newest gen ryzens, and gets excellent battery life. The only thing that I can say is wrong with this laptop is that the screen could be a little bit stiffer when tapping. Overall though, I would say that this laptop is recommended to anyone going to college who wants a lot of screen real estate and battery life to go with it.

Firstly, I was very impressed with the HP vendor rep, she was extremely helpful. The laptop was easy to set up, I was dreading that because I am a new user. Beautiful resolutions, I was sold by the tablet functionality, and huge screen. I like everything about the laptop except the fingerprint reading feature, it’s not as efficient as I expected. After a few times I have to use my password to log in. Overall, it’s really worth the price, I got it on Black Friday do I can have a laptop you work on from home. I also bought the Microsoft Office and one year of Geek Squat support just in case. However, I really don’t think I will have much issue with it.

Prior to purchasing this, I bought my wife the latest MacBook Air Retina 13". While that was a great laptop, the latest Mac OS versions no longer support 32-bit apps (ie old games we still play). I returned the Air and got her this laptop instead. The HP is built really well, especially at this price point. I have 2 of the HP All-in-One computers with the same CP/GPU/RAM running Windows 10 and they've been really good machines. The kids use them all the time for Steam games and Minecraft. In laptop form, it performs just as well with the added benefit of touchscreen and portability. I've got no complaints. A very solid machine for the money.

I don't know what it is with my electronics. I swear like everything I buy has to have some sort of defect, whether it be my phone boot looping or Switch charger being broken or whatever. The first few months after I got the computer, it would just blue screen of death randomly. Like for absolutely no reason at all. It would happen like once or twice per day. I reached out to HP, and they were super helpful. They told me to update the BIOS, and it fixed... for like a few weeks. Then it started again. I got kinda angry and at that point was just ready to return it. But without me doing anything, it just... stopped. I haven't had it blue screen in like a year now. I suspect that the problem was probably driver or windows install related. At that point in time though, I was too dumb to search up the error codes and find out. But now with that out of the way, everything else about this laptop is mostly really good. The battery life is a large improvement from the 10-year-old thicc boi I had in the past (which would last like an hour). The screen looks nice but isn't really bright enough for being outside on a sunny day though. But like who does that anyways. The performance, though, is where it especially shines - but also dies a bit. On performance mode in Cinebench, it can outperform an i7 7700K, which is a high-end DESKTOP processor from not that long ago. It's faster than even a 10th gen laptop i7, let alone an i5 10th gen (which is what its meant to compete against). But I have found that this thing can get HOT on performance mode. Like I was just playing Roblox, picked up the laptop, promptly burnt my hand, and found out that the CPU was at like 120 degrees Celsius. Like how the heck does that even happen? So, I now prop up the laptop on a piece of foam every time I game. I have found that the fan profile on this thing kinda sucks. Like even on performance mode, it doesn't kick in that much. Like for some reason when I was gaming last weekend, the fan wouldn't kick in at all no matter what I did or how hot it got (109 C). Then, it mysteriously decided to work the next day. So I guess don't turn on performance mode unless you want a mini Chernobyl in your house.

I'm not much of a computer geek but I'm really good with research I'm also very OCD and particular this was a step up from what I wanted but it was my first choice crazy fast crazy good graphics and my wife takes photos and it was more than enough for her to edit photos I originally didn't want touch screen but I find myself using touch screen more than the regular use of a computer I bought a bag from Amazon and a lap pillow type thing as well way more computer than I needed but I wanted something that wasn't gonna be outdated in 6 months and from my research this thing should be excellent for years to come! Highly recommend! And I got this as an open box!

I walked into Best Buy and had no idea what to look for in a new laptop. My old laptop was in its final days, and I needed something soon. The Geek squad person who sold it to me was not only knowledgeable, but also gave me reasons to purchase this computer over more expensive laptops with bells and whistles I don't need.. It is exactly what I needed and only what I needed..and on sale! Speed is wonderful, easy to use (and I'm not the most tech-literate person), and has every function I needed and none that are not needed. Thanks!

The Envy lineup strikes a good price to performance and build quality. I did buy it on sale for $580 which is an insane deal for that price. but at the current $780 I'd say it is still very much worth it. Very good metal build, no deck flex at all. The bezels on the screen are small but not the thinnest, specially on the chin. Good keyboard switches for a laptop. Screen on this model is not very bright. It's enough for indoor use, I did had a hard time on a sunny day. The 4000 series Ryzen chip is fast enough for most, if not all the daily needs and a few more demanding tasks for on the go computing. 8GB of RAM is enough for most, Not confirmed this myself, but according to the HP forums you can upgrade the RAM and SSD on the laptop if you choose to do so. Of course you have the 2x1 feature and it works very well, super effortless going from laptop to tablet mode. Now here is where this laptops has problems. 720p webcam, and horrible drivers for the audio. Be aware that this laptop has a driver issue regarding ANY video call application that uses video and built-in mic. As of January 3, 2021, There was been numerous attempts from the HP forums (customer solutions) to fix it, but HP themselves have not addressed the issue. If you must use this for Zoom. You have to use headphones and bypass the built-in mic and speakers altogether. Otherwise the audio driver freaks out and the only way to stop it, it is by restarting the computer. Having said that, it's an easy fix. That is very well documented on the HP forums. Just know it does involve performing a clean install of a driver (AMD Graphics Driver, yes you read that correctly, audio is controlled by the graphics driver) every time there is a windows update (since they will push the old broken driver). For me this is a non-issue since I always use headphones for video calls, and performing the update is simple with AMD Auto-detect driver installer.

Purchased for teen for Christmas. Very versatile laptop. We mainly purchased it so our teen could do her schoolwork (all of her work is digital, nothing is on paper anymore). Connects easily to our WiFi (family laptop doesn't, so she enjoys this). It also has a graphics processor that can support her gaming, with the ability for upgrades if she gets into more serious computer gaming. The screen flips all the way back so she can hold it like a tablet. The monitor is a touchscreen, and with the software she has I no longer need to buy sketchpads for all her art. She loves it. Would recommend.
